Default Apparrently we are going to war with Lebanon

Just saw this, apparrently not recognising the guys diplomatic immunity could result in warfare between Australia and Lebanon.

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/consuls-cl...026-172en.html

This amused me, so I just thought i'd post it here....

I'd be more worried about the tensions between Israel and Iran in the last few years, USA will back Israel, we back Israel, Lebanon is with Palestine who is with Iran.

A friend of mine who is from Israel, was in the IDF between 2000-2004 and they've always wanted to wipe Iran off the map. They've asked the USA for permission but they kept getting knocked back.

But thats off topic.

I think the fact that to get to Iran they have to fly over Jordan plus either Iraq or Saudi Arabia would be the biggest problem.

Israel do not have the capability to give Iran a knockout punch without resorting to use of Nuclear weapons.

Saudi Arabia on the other hand, has quite a potent airforce and only has the persian gulf between them and Iran.

That was the whole idea, Israel and Iran (thats what the hooha is about Iran and nuclear power) both have nuclear weapons and they're both pointed at each other. Also Israel has one of the most battle hardened armies in the world, plus lots of American military equipment.

In 1973, the Yom Kippur war:

Quote:
Meir authorized the assembly of thirteen 20-kiloton-of-TNT (84 TJ) tactical atomic weapons for Jericho missiles at Hirbat Zachariah, and F-4 aircraft at Tel Nof, both nuclear-capable. These were prepared for use against Syrian and Egyptian targets.
The USA and USSR intervened, and quickly.

Look at the history of the conflict between Israel and Palestine when it first started in 1948, Israel has always come out on top even when the odds where stacked against it.
