Hi,
I just bought my Focus LS CL in July. It is a second hand one but I am pretty happy about it. However, its engine warning light went on when I drove it home today.. Sadly I know very little about cars, so I am seeking some advice about where I can get a good mechanic to check it? I live in Hawthorn, Melbourne. and how much will it cost me to check this fault? This car was always serviced by Jefferson Ford by looking at the log book. Shall I just bring the car to them directly and ask for a quote? Any suggestion/advice is more than welcome! Cheers |

This light is best figured out with a WDS or other diagnostic tool able to plug into the focus.
Most workshops these days should have one so you could take it nearly anywhere you want. Ford departments may know a reoccuring problem with the focus that causes the light to come on and if you take it back to jefferson they may know if your actual car has a reoccuring issue, but it is up to you if you want to call around and ask a few shop on what is going on and to get quotes for such work. it seems this problem is quite common? There are other thread discussing this warning light issue as well. In the service book done by Jefferson in March they already checked this issue but didn't find any outstanding issue..so I am pretty sure it is reoccuring problem. I will bring it back to Jefferson and see what they tell me this time.

The engine light will come on if there is a problem with any of the electrical systems in the car. So it could be trans, O2 sensor, TPS just to name a few.

Jefferson replaced the IMRC solenoid, and charged me $255 for that. I could say their service is satifactory and the price is ok...
the first gear feels more calm now, sweet
