Hey guys,
This is my first post. It sucks it has to be about a problem, but hey... I just bought an ED Futura a little over a week ago, and a few times I've gone to start it and it does nothing. After a couple tries it'll finally go (it's never left me stranded). If I listen closely I can hear a click type noise sorta relay like) coming from the smartlock module area. It's definately not a low voltage starter solenoid type click. This is my first Falcon, so I'm not too familiar with it yet (I'm a rotary man, but don't let that stop ya helping me I also like fords ). Anyway, could it be something to do with the smartlock module playing up? It doesn't give any error codes through the dash light btw. Thanks for any help. |

Do you get warning lights on the dash when ya turn to on, also does it happen when the cars hot, u can get excess voltage drop in the starter motor 'start' wire causing the starter to not throw out.

If it only cranks after a couple of turns of the key it could be that the starter solenoid is buggered.
It hangs off the side of the starter motor and is basically designed to make and break the high loads that the starter motor draws... I think you can get them recon'd at a wreckers...

Thanks guys,
All the usual warning lights come on etc. They turn off when you turn to start, and come back on in the on position if it doesn't start as usual. Solenoid eh? It doesn't throw at all and so nothing happens I guess? I'll try kicking it next time!! : Yeah it makes the click when the key is turned to off... That's obviously normal. The park brake light does come on, when the ignition is at 'On', and then turns off when you turn to start as normal. I'll look into all those things, thanks again. |

next time it does it, keep the key in the start position and give the dash a thump (not too hard, dont break it) on the panel just above the handbrake, the smartlock module can play up which is behind there and giving it a thump gets them going, thats if its the problem.
