Default roll cage in road car?

Can anyone give me the lowdown on 1/2 and full roll cages in Vic. registered cars? I've looked through Vicroads website and that doesn't really answer any questions.

Rules regarding roll cages are different from state to state. From memory, if you're running a half cage legally in Victoria, the car can only be used and registered as a 2 seater, even if it's a 4 door sedan.

Half cages can be passed, but full cages are a contentious issue especially in Qld atm. It mean that people cant register a new rally car because they are not allowed a full cage. A full cage is not a good idea in a road car as you dont want to smack your skull on a tube while wearing a lap sash belt.

Follow Anchor's advice in the earlier post. NCOP stands for - National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification.

Street Machine had a real good article on cages..i'll see if I can find it. But from memory the main limiting factors are vision, entry/egress obstruction and distance from the drivers head. Depending on the type of car, 6 point cages can be implemented with ease, others are harder.

Its not just a problem of adhering with rego authorities, its having a cage that will be passed by the governing racing body too...

At the end of the day, you'll never get a caged passed by your state authority, CAMS and ANDRA. Pick 1. It's bullsh1t, but that's life. Trust me, am trying with my Nova. At the moment i'm going to run bolt in ANDRA and just run it on the street if I decide to do some highway runs. I'd rather live and lose my car than die.

Thats the crazy thing...with a half cage atleast Id have some roll over protection in the Alfa instead of it folding like a tin can. Im ok with it becoming a two seater, its almost inhumane to have people in the back anyway.

used to be that you had to remove the back seat for a half cage.

Anchor I thought ANDRA recently changed rules to allow bolt in cages cause qld transport will only allow bolt in in street cars. I thought this would have made these things easier.
