Default 15th Drink Driving Charge..!!!

Local Territtorian recently convicted of his 15th drink driving charge and his 18th driving whilst disqualified...!!!

Penalty:

8 months in prison, 6 years driving disqualification and a $3450 fine.

Wonder what you would get in any other state in Australia for that?

Why does it takes 15 and 18 tries respectively to get a spot in prison is the more important question.

Why is 15 drink driving charges only $3450? Hell I got caught for excessive speed and was $1700, granted the amount was justified but the fact its only half the price of his 15th drink driving fine...

What really sucks is ths guy wil be out in 6 months back behind the wheel. Unfortunatly the only way he will be locked up for an extended period of time is if he kills some poor innocent family on the way to a picnic. This bloke needs a few years behind bars for OUR SAFETY, because he clearly doesnt get it and being arrested 14 times previously obviously wasnt a big enough deterrent.

15 drink driving charges and 18 times caught disqualified surely qualifies this guy for a lifetime ban, it seems to be all the rage with hoons these days.

I doubt that would stop him. Seeing as he's been done 18 times as a disqualified driver not much short of Gaol time will keep him off the roads.

True, perhaps 8 months behind bars will make him think twice in future. I also wonder if he lives in a remote area, it might explain why he keeps getting back behind the wheel.

I'm a bit Old Testament.

If this guy won't respect a ban maybe society needs to try something else.

Maybe the loss of eyesight or a limb or two might prevent him driving drunk in the future.

Or is that too harsh for these civilised? times.

I know someone who served four gaol terms & loss of licence for 10 years for less driving convictions than the Territorian mentioned here, the guy now definitely does not drink & drive any more.
Some people eventually learn some don't.

"If I were in charge..."

* First offence...$2000 fine, one years disqualification from driving. None of this "work licence" crap either. Ride a pushy or take the bus.

* Second offence...$5000 fine, 30 days jail, and absolute loss of licence, never to hold any sort of licence ever again. If you were too stupid to learn the first time...

* Third offence, for the truly stupid...$10,000 fine, six months jail, and confiscation of whatever car you are driving at the time, unless stolen or rented I suppose, with a $10,000 bond to get it back.

Time we started treating the crime with the seriousness it deserves...

And force him to wear his testicles as ear rings so everyone knows the crime he’s committed and to stop him from being a breeder.

Assuming we're talking NT here, not ACT.

If he got 8 months gaol, then chances are he's already done time for his previous drink driving offences as well. Also the fine he received would not be a total for all those offences, he would have got fines ranging from $1000 or so each time he was convicted in court I imagine. So it does add up.

Disqualified for 6 years isn't too bad for the Territory.

The bloke is clearly a chronic alcoholic and needs a significant intervention of some kind
to treat it. Repeat arrests, fines, gaol and even the shock of the death of innocents
caught up in the fray may sadly not be enough of a deterrent sometimes.

Trouble is they never pay their fines, ever.

Good evening,

When will these drivers come to realise that they are not only endangering themselves ,but all the other people on the road.If you want to get ****ed,go ahead, knock yourself out.But as soon as you get behind the wheel, you are risking the lives of my family and friends.Lock the bastards up,give em whatever help they need until we can be assured they will NEVER drive again.About time we got heavy on drink /drugged driving like some other countries.Sounds pretty
rad ,but recent crime punishment does not seem to be working.
Cheers,
Kenny.
