Ultimate luxury for me,
V8 (although the I6 isn't bad!), nice ride, lots of space, air cond, good solid driving feel, power and lots of low down torque, smooth motor and gearbox, auto, leather/suede/sheepskin, plenty of courtesy lighting, cupholders, nice paint, SUNROOF, comfortable seats, good sound system, and a bullbar with good driving lights etc.

Slowly getting there with my Wagon!

It becomes less exclusive when more people buy it not less luxurious.
Really? 1 million is obviously speaking figuratively as it would literally be impossible for either of those brands to sell a million at a time that was also used to highlight a point......those two brands are specifically marketed.....along with probably every serious premium car......because if they did sell a million of them, it'd be disastrous for their branding. As you correctly say, their exclusivity would suffer. And as luxurious cars...that would hurt them.
I think your taking the OPs question too literal.
Exclusivity, 100% is an element for some when it comes to luxurious drives!!
Leather clad seats don't make a seat comfortable do they?
There's a lot of factors and elements that combine for different people!
IMHO

I consider a luxurious drive to be one that gives me that impression. The components of the car are irrelevant.

It makes little sense to quote me, then change what I said and then try to lampoon the altered sentence, but so be it...

When it comes to taking luxury literally, the word actually means something in the English language, it has a literal meaning. No where in that meaning does it say something has to be exclusive to be luxurious.

Here's the first definition that pops up for the word.

"a material object, service, etc., conducive to sumptuous living, usually a delicacy, elegance, or refinement of living rather than a necessity"

I will accept that some people may consider the status afforded to them by an exclusive item to be a "luxury". I personally don't agree with that interpretation of the word nor would it seem do any dictionaries.

High profile tyres. Hasn't been mentioned yet. Supple and combined with a good suspension tune and great seats, make for a drive you can get out of hours later and still feel refreshed.

It's ironic that in today's cars, the more you pay the higher up the model list you choose, the more likely you are to get low profile rubber on big rims that send more road shocks into the car.

Leathers only good when it's not hot or cold.
Yes not good if you wear stubbies and singlet.

The thread isn't about the meaning of LUXURY tho is it? Luxury in this case is used in a sentence! It's about elements of a luxurious drive. Not sure why your arguing about it

Anyway...just look at the thread....look at the things people like for their luxurious drive. Not all exactly typical are they.......funny thing opinion!

Using a word in a sentence very rarely changes its meaning, it can, but in this case it does not so I'm not sure what pointing out that it's in a sentence achieves.

Exclusivity is non tangible and variable with the market forces, the more people buy something the less exclusive it is. As I've already said I can understand there are some people who attach value to it and think that it's "luxurious" to them.

Going back to my original point something can't be luxurious one day and then because a few extra people buy it it then suddenly ceases to be luxurious the next day.

When I read the thread many of the things I see from people are tangible things that provide luxury to their driving experience, I think this captures the essence of luxury nicely. Interestingly many of the things are quite common rather than exclusive, that implies exclusivity is not a factor for many people.

Why you arguing with everyone who has a differing opinion as if your opinion is fact and everyone's opinion is BS?

Just discuss without the condescending remarks or the thread will need to be closed as per other threads of this ilk.

Cheers

Nicely weighted balance with firm steering and suspension as it turns into a bend and enough power to wag the bum coming out if the mood possess me, now that’s my idea of a luxurious drive.

On the other hand if it’s a luxury car,

An S65 AMG for weekday duties

And maybe a second hand Huayra for the weekend.

I wish.

What are the elements of a luxurious drive?
Well as people here have said for themselves.....this includes.....

Sunroofs
Tow packs
Leather
Not leather
Great handling
Bull bars
Low profile rims
Exclusivity
Price
Performance
Premium paint
Many other things....

Don't want to state the obvious here, tho it appears it has to be said......a lot of these things could not be described as luxurious.....BUT they do form part of the elements needed for a luxurious drive for those here!

Half of what's in that list is what I would call a performance drive not a luxury drive.....

Compliant suspension able to soak the bumps
Comfy seats - Velour or Leather at your preference
Good Audio

That's all you need at its basic level....
