thanks man!!! .... turned out to be heat related alright......low coolant.
she hasnt checked it for a while obviously. i assume it was getting too hot and killing to coils........ive flushed it out added fresh coolant, checked thermos both working, and road tested for an hour and no probs at all. hopefully that was it but i think new coils and leads will be on her shopping list. thanks for giving me a list of things to check EL |

well i have an update......car went well for a few days and developed another issue. again once it reaches operating temperature, it will lose drive.....like its arcing a spark once it cools a little all returns to normal.
in the last few days we have replaced both coils and leads and installed new plugs.....while the car runs much better it continues to stutter and fart once warm.....i can drive 20klms or 10klms its seems intermittent. could crank angle sensor failing cause this? regards el |

it hasnt done a valve or maybe a a stuck lifter
from what I know about crank angle sensors some people suggest . to test this theory pour cooler water over that CAS once it gets hot see if it plays up

codes ? the engine check light does this model have one
or will an LED test light be eneough next for a 2000 model cant find a DIY fault codes list of instruction on the bridging the wire on the diagnostic plug method and using the engine check light to flash the codes if you have the radio code if the car needs one you can undo the two battery terminals for a minute and clear any fault code readings this will reset the computer then try another test drive

diagnostic connector under bonnet - bridge terminal TEN to ground -LED test light or analog voltmeter connected from battery positive to terminal FEN - (marked on cover) ignition on count pulses for codes eg,1flash followed by 2 flash = code 12 |
