When its been tuned, bye bye factory warranty.
Could you take it back to the tuner.

Although no point really if the charger was faulty. Shame it happened at the strip

In saying that i used to own a VW GTi. It had dump pipe, cat, FMIC tuned to 22psi and intake

Took it in under warranty to tighten up turbo bolts as they were known to come loose. Service manager was wide eyed at all the mods but took it in and did the wortk. They took it for a good spin and all were happy. Top service.
Ha ha, that is classic, in all the years you have never mentioned a golf. You coming out of the closet now ? WTF has a minor issue that hasn't broken anything of subsequence got to do with a major repair like this ?
History tells us that all brands will void warranty if you give them half a chance . What is hard to believe is that one would do it for 1/4 mile runs, after all that is the ONLY place it is legal ! if you modify under warranty period and get caught out tough bikkies, track or road makes no difference .
The only advantage to owning a ford if you have this mindset is you can do what you like after 3 years, buy a Hyundai and you have to wait for 7 .
Now there is a positive selling point . You can root your car up quicker if you buy oztralian.

Sounds like you know the story Richo,if it wasnt tuned or at the track hes got nothing to worry about, simple.
For ford to come out and say its been at the track id say hes gonna have issues getting warranty even if he didnt take it down the strip!
Tell him i said good luck!

Ford in addition to the statutory warranty provides a contractual warranty, warrantying the car for 3 years, subject to the terms and conditions of that contractual warranty. I assume that the contractual warranty will exclude warranty in event car was used motor racing, and depending on definitions in the contract most likely will exclude drag strip and circuit racing etc.

Likewise any tune will negate Fords statutory warranty, because the car that failed was not the merchantable quality fit for purpose product Ford provided, that product no longer exists, it has morphed into a different product by the modifications.

Likewise the contractual warranty will exclude liability for performance modifications- need to look at terms and conditions.

This is not rocket science and Ford as a business also needs to operate as a commercial enterprise that is viable.

So-if the owner got a tune or was drag racing- you play you pay...

Me- I am going to get an intercooler and "conservative" tune when the car checks out and when I get used to its performance envelope, and if there is a mechanical failure which arises from the extra power from tune I have made the decision to self warrant....
In light of this maybe it's not a good idea to tune, no matter how conservative?

This is probably the only time someone took a Falcon in for what they thought should be a warranty repair, and they WERENT told 'they all do that'

Damned if you do damned if you don't...

Race on the street no harder than the strip, if she goes kaboom, warranty applies but you're a hoon and menace to society.
Do the right thing, take it to the drag strip, kaboom. Kiss your **** good bye!

The car this thread is about has been down the strip. However as far as I can tell I don't think its been tuned and is stock.

Does Ford actually say anything anywhere about voiding warranty by going down the drags? In a disclaimer or a document of some kind?

It is owned by a little old Lady who only drives it on Sundays to do the grocery shopping at the local strip mall.

Good idea.

Personal details removed from first post. I doubt a member or anyone in fact would like their name posted on a forum while dealing with this matter.
