Default Sync Media Problem

Hey everyone,
Had my 2013 Focus Sport for about a month now. Have been using my iPod touch with no problems. This morning before a trip I tried to start music as normal but I got "Connect a BT Audio device" message.
I haven't touched any Bluetooth settings as I haven't paired my phone and my iPod doesn't even have Bluetooth. It will come up with "USB indexing of tracks complete" but I can't access any music because I have this message up. If I turn Bluetooth off I just get a message telling me to turn Bluetooth on first. So far I have tried soft resetting the iPod, re-syncing the iPod, using a USB stick, Master Reset of Sync and Reset to default (both resets seemed to do nothing).
Am I missing something simple?
Thanks

My experience with Sync is somewhat okay, new car has Sync 2 which is better, From memory I have heard of others complain about issues with Apple devices. Is music on a USB flash drive an option? This is what I do and it is pretty much seamless, works all the time

Yeah tried a USB stick. I just have the same message up.
On the menu 'Sync Media' is already highlighted for some reason. Is there a way to completely turn off Sync? When I press 'master reset' or 'reset to default' it freezes for 10 seconds or so and then comes up with "reset complete" but everything is still the same, such as the media being highlighted, recent locations in navigation and the radio stations. Shouldn't they all be cleared?

Hey Joel,

When I owned my Focus ST, I used a ipod classic 80gb, and I used to have the problem of the indexing occur regularly. If this is what is happening on yours, then the fix is relatively easy, if not annoying. Remove fuse 67 for a minute or two, then replace and fire up sync. You should be right to go.

Fuse 67 is located in the fuse panel underneath the glove box (painful to get at).

More detail here if you wish:

Hope that helps.

That worked. Thanks alot Craig. Was easy to find, but a pain to remove. Will have to look into a fuse removal tool to carry. Hope it doesn't happen again for a good while now.

Glad it worked and that I could help you out.

My experience was that the period between the first time I removed the fuse and the second time I removed the fuse was much shorter than from the start of using the ipod to the first removal. But, once you do it, the period is pretty consistent (every month or two for me) and you soon become adept at removing it (as per one of my previous threads).

Think I have this indexing problem solved.
Process: ( in windows )
Create a flat file structure.
Select all
Right click to properties, select details, then remove properties and personel information. Remove all extraneous tag information ie Comments, composer etc. Save changes (slow processing be patient).
I only kept Title, Artist, Album, year and genre.

Hope this is helpful to all those having trouble with indexing

You can also try "mp3Tag" software to achieve the same thing. It is free from --
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

Easy to use for a whole range of changes and you can also do bulk changes using the --
Actions > Actions Quick > Remove Fields

Just enter which fields (eg ALBUM;ARTIST;COMMENT;GENRE;TRACK;YEAR) you want removed and presto - all done very quickly.
