Looking at buying a xh panelvan from WA. The car has 1 month of registration. And taking it back to vic. Any tips?

Hi,
Is the seller letting you drive it across with plates in his name? I am not sure if you can take over a WA licence when you are not having a WA address. Perhaps worth checking that with WA DOT before you arrive. Cheers, |

If your question relates to driving it back, then:
- check with WA and Vic government departments what's involved. - get car insurance - join RACV if they will cover you for breakdowns. - before driving back you will need to know it the car is ok to do the trip or it needs some repairs. For example make sure cooling system and tyres are ok. - don't drive at night on roads like nullarbor plain. You need to be careful of road kill. During the day take care for road kill too. - take your time it's a great drive and interesting places to see. - take someone to share the drive. - have a spare tyre. |

If you cut through Hyden to Norseman, the dirt road can get corrugated, but it gets you off the great eastern for a while. Good free camping spots at Madura pass, turn off the left hand side of the road before descending to the servo. You can run on the old unsealed road from Border village to Nullabour, watch out for the SA Wombats, they are more strongly built than any untracked vehicle. Take plenty of water and don't run out of fuel, it will be embarrassing and you will get no sympathy from the trucks. Enjoy the trip.
