I have Sync2in 2015 Ford Focus. It was great when I had my windows lumia phone. I could push the button on the steering wheel, and "call" the assistant on the phone (call Cortana) and then the phone assistant would do whatever I wanted. ie send text messages, not the canned ones but dicated texts. "Tell son to put the oven on to 200", add an appointment to the calendar, reminders, calls, send texts, read texts, take notes etc etc

I drive 750klms a week so I relied on this system to help me with life.

The phone finally died and after nearly 10 years without an iphone or android I finally got an android.

I desperately want Android Auto or similiar. I mainly need to be able to send custom text messages, but the other stuff would be great. I would prefer to use the button on steering wheel to connect, but I am willing to hear other ideas. All suggestions are welcome.
You should be able to activate the Google command with saying 'ok Google'. Not sure if that will help. Sync 2 is an old system.

Hey Daniel,

The problem with that is two fold: sometimes the phone doesn't hear me, and it's not through the stereo. So I have to turn the stereo down, then hope the phone hears me, then hope that I can hear the phone and so on.

But if you mean, I should be able to press the Voice button on the steering wheel and say OK Google, I might need to check bluetooth settings and whether it needs to be tethered or not.

Cheers
Vicki

Just check if holding down the voice button on your steering wheel longer kick's in your phone's version of Apple's Siri. In my Transit Custom and Territory a longer held press activates Siri instead of the Ford voice command system and in my case Siri understands requesting making a call better and can send SMS's.

Hey great suggestion!! I'll give it a go. Is your iPhone plugged in or just Bluetooth connected?
