Default 2021 Supercharged Ram 1500 coming to Oz

Wow this thing is freaking awesome. Supercharged Hellcat 6.2-litre Hemi V8.

523kW and 881Nm. 0 to 60mph (96kmh) dash in 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile (400m) run in 12.9 seconds at 108mph (174kmh). Top speed is rated at 189kmh.

You will need to be a computer geek to operate the wicked dash layout

Maximum payload of 594kg due to the specialist off-road suspension could be a bummer for some.

He's hoping this might wake up Ford with the F150 etc.

Which will out do the TRX when it gets the GT500 Predator motor next year. Apparently going to a two tier line-up with an upgraded Ecoboost V6 as standard, and the 5.2 SC engine as an option.

Given it has so much power and torque why does it only run a high 12 and won't do 200km/h

Or are these GM kilowatts? 523 on paper 223 at the wheels.

Or 523 'dyno jet' KW

The big AT tyres aren't rated to go fast. And stability becomes an issue with these tyre of trucks with the long travel suspension.

Great for those times you need to tow your 3 bed transportable home from one place to another.

I like the look of it. Its a tank, but at least it has the mumbo to get it moving.

I’m kinda wondering if Ford is thinking supercharged 6.8 V8 now.

Short odds in a couple of years time, the Special Line that builds the S/C 5.2 will be finished by then
Not that we'll see anything like that here in a Ford dealer....

Just shows how dumb it was for Ford to kill off the idea of a V8 Raptor here.
It would have been half the price.

Ford US or Ford Australia? you know there's no current Raptor V8 right certainly not in Right hand drive.

Half the price? that's what our current ranger Raptor is priced.. a proper Raptor delivered here as RHD wont be cheap.

I also don't think Ford Australia would go through the effort for 200-250 vehicles

Not at this point. But they have a megazilla they are working on.

I wonder if the megazilla is just a R&D bed for the 6.8 they are talking about for Mustang. Might be the Predator's replacement, maybe with a blower?

Yes I meant the Australian Raptor from my previous comment.

I guess we have to wait and see how Ford responds to all this with what they have coming.
From my understanding there will be no V8 Ranger and no factory F series coming any time soon if at all.

yes but will you?

People pay absurd amounts of money for things they want everyday, a lot depends on how much mullah you have.

Well aware there is a reputable conversion company operating in Queensland for this sort of thing.

I'm responding to the notion of a Ford delivered V8 Raptor.

Absolutely, Brian Wolfe, the former head of the project keeps showing just how easy it is to make power with CNC ported stock heads, cam and good intake, 660 up just like that.

I'm betting that Ford will blow these other turkeys out of the water in a few years time,
BEV F150 gives them room to bring S/C 6.8 Godzilla that fits better than a coyote.

Where to begin,
6,866 lbs, big heavy wheels and tyres, aero as a block of flats......

It's around 800 lbs heavier than the F150 Raptor......

That is a massive weight disadvantage. The upcoming Raptor with the Predator with more power, and a heap less weight, will make it look slow.

The only weight that counts is the weight of the wheels on the ground here in Australia

Good to see RAM has doubled down on mega truck, here at least

Edit: & no I wouldn't buy one. I'd buy the meanest wagon body version I could get here in Oz. Maybe an Aviator, Explorer, but I love the look of the Expedition. We have this absolutely massive continent, plenty of room for the US battleships to park when out of urban areas. The wagons secure all lengths of surfboards, too. But none of those for Oz :(
