Wasn't their a short (and not at all successful) relationship between ford and Nissan whereby they where rebadging Falcon Utes (around XF I think) as Nissan utes and selling them?
Here it is.. found it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Button_car_plan Forgot about the Ford Corsair/Nissan Pintara Ford Mavrick/Nissan Patrol duo's as well..

In among all this, when the Holden Apollo (rebadged Camry) was launched, the then Holden chief designer Phil Zmood was being 'complimented' by industry colleagues with such comments as "Nice grille, Phil", and "Great wheel cover design you did there, Phil".
Previously, Zmood was responsible for entire car designs including the Monaro in the 1970's... |

If the Isuzu brand in Australia can exist and do well with just 2 models - the D-Max and MU-X, then Holden should in theory be able to exist with as little as just 2 models, a ute and a SUV. They're not going anywhere. After all, Proton Australia are still around and they literally sell ZERO cars here.

The brand still exists in Australia, but they haven't sold any brand-new cars since 2016. From what I understand, the current vehicles don't meet emissions regulations in Australia, but they claim to have new models on the way.

Hmm, strange, I remember the car park at my secondary school in 1998. Most of the teachers had small/old 1980s, 4-cylinder Japanese cars - Corollas, Coronas, etc. I only noticed a handful of cars from the 1990s - a bubble 121. Another teacher had a E36 3-series, which was the nicest car any teacher drove, with the exception of the headmaster who had a VS Statesman, but that was provided to him as part of his salary package. I didn't notice any French or other European cars.

The forgettable Ford Corsair (Rebadged Pintara), I've never seen so many people
embrace a Ewwro Mondeo after that... Bring back the Telstar (mazda 6) and Laser (Mazda 3) but then the moment has passed... |

Plus Proton have a legal obligation to provide support for the cars they sold in Australia.

Hmm well if Inchcape take over they already have Peugeot/Citroen under their wing, and they own Opel/Vauxhall now. Wouldn't be too hard to continue with Commodore/Astra I guess.
Although would it just be worth trying to bring Opel in again? Holden as a brand name is sliding into oblivion. |

I could see this as being a good move for Holden locally as it may allow the brand to order in vehicles from other manufacturers and rebadge as versions of its own . |

A Great Wall ute with 'Holden Rodeo' badges, an Aston Martin as the new 'Monaro', a Genisis G80 as the 'Caprice'. Really. They should just sell all the existing spares to 'Rare Spares', start a museum with a Federal Govt grant, and wave bye bye to Aus with their middle finger. |

It was inevitable, there are no cars under the Holden name being developed.
It is a pity as there are a number of engineers still working at Holden.
