So FIRST POST EVER....ok now thats out the way.

Finally decided to get me one of the fantastic looking cars!

I'll be heading down to Ford on Monday to get the ball rolling, they already have the one I'm looking for (Blue!), just got to organise tinted windows, and paint protection (Do you think its worth it??).

As soon as I pick up, I'll be posting some pics for sure!

Cheers

It does look good, but I fear I'd get some medical condition trying to keep it clean!

TBH it was a coin toss between the Red and Blue, and seeing my current car is Red, went for the Blue.

I thought all the colours looked great, for me was a toss between white and black. Never owned a black car before so.....

But your are correct it is a pain in the butt trying to keep clean.

So did anyone buy the paint protection they try to sell you? And is it worth it? I mean it sounds good, but does it actually protect the paint?

It is usually way cheaper to get it after you buy the car amongst other things then you do not pay stamp duty on its cost.

Its pricey for what it is, but what isnt at the dealer ! You could buy a bottle of Nanolex and do it yourself for 1/4 of the cost.

Personally Id rather give my paint a layer or two of wax every 6 months or so. No protection can last a lifetime regardless of what they tell you

What he said. Clay bar and wax are your best friend, some sort of polish if you need to fix something, although I will admit light colours are easy, blacks and reds a bit more time consuming, but look great when maintained.

Looks good. By the way, are you the Schumi who used to hang out on VW Watercooled, by any chance?

Hey DJM you didn't happen to be heading north up the A1/Pacific highway yesterday? Saw a white ST with number plates similar to your username . Was just north if the Dioreahea cafeteria heading toward Warrell Creek.

I was quoted $2995 to have the protection pack applied. This was for paint protection, leather protection, and interior protection. I politely (then aggressively) declined (after being pushed to buy despite how many times i said no). Then I went out and got my own stuff:

- Nanolex ultimate paint sealant
- Megs carnauba wax
- Leather conditioner
- Scotch guard (for the floor and mats)

All up around $200 and a weekend of my own time. Much more satisfying!!

Damn, near 3K for that, and for what? Had one "paint protection" experience many years ago which didn't work and they blamed Ford's substandard paint, and was done as part of the new car purchase package. Never again and I am with you on the satisfaction of doing it yourself. I guess you have to like doing this stuff but doing it yourself is satisfaction. Nobody but me washes or treats my paint.

Yep the "protection packages" are a joke, I used to be a new car salesmen and as others have said a 6 monthly polish is just as effective, the "packages" are designed to make the dealership money. It cost them if your lucky $100 if not less. Same with the "packages for tint/sensors etc.. Always pay to shop around, it's common practice for their aftearket rep to pull figures out of thin air for how much they want too charge a customer. It will vary by as much as $300 in some instances for the same package on the same model car.

That's a great pic! Love the colour although I am a little bias!

I've had mine about 3 weeks I'll have to put some pics up one of these days.
