I average between 8.5 - 9.2l/100 km. This is city driving and far from conservative driving.

what do you mean by 250kms a tank? a full tank will take you only 250 kms? because if that's the case, you seem to have quite the lead foot. lol supposed to be getting around 550 to 600 km from a full tank.

lol, well honestly full tank which is close to about $60 or there abouts only gives me 250kms, if im lucky ill get 280, thats why ive been keeping an eye out on this thread, and how the hell in the world did i come up with 7lt 100kms ? amount of kms divided by litres and it came out like dat ? you reckon i should speak to the service department about this ? coz its driving me insane, even tried to drive like a grandma and i get the same klms.

next time you fill up at the servo, just mark down how much you've filled up, and also how much you've travelled on the trip meter. then you can punch those numbers into the website below and click enter.

http://www.dropbears.com/u/utilities...fficiency.html

hope that helps :]

well last time i filled up $40
which equalled up to 27 litres. it was close to the 3/4 mark on the guage.

on the website this is what it gives me.

Enter Distance Travelled in Kilometers 190
Enter Number of Litres Used 27
Result in Kilometers per litre 7.037037037037037
Result in Imp. miles per gallon 19.887278582930754
Result in litres per 100 kilometers 14.210526315789472

bloody hell might as well drive a v8 ffs. is this redikurous (spelt incorrectly on perpose) or what ? and i wasn't even flogging it.

If you didn't fill the car up fully and it wasn't full when you reset the trip odometer the last time you "filled up", then you wont be able to figure it out..

the ONLY way you can work it out is to do the following
Fill the car FULLY and reset the trip odometer.
Drive it (use a full tank so the average is realistic of what you normally drive)
Fill it up again (FULLY) and write down the milage from the trip odometer and the amount of fuel it took to fill it. Only then can you work it out.

Do that and post all info on here, i "think" you'll be suprised :

this might sound like a silly question but what do you guys class as driving like an old grandma? what RpM do you change at and do you guys stay in 4th gear at 60km/h? and also has any one noticed if you put your foot to the floor and take the revs past 4500 rpm the aircon cuts out and gets hot

Air con really sucks the gas. Probably what's killing your mileage.

First time Ive filled mine up (04 WP zetec) and I got 7.1ltrs/100kms.

535kms using 38 litres of Caltex Vortex.

~300kms of that was 110-130km/h driving and the rest was start stop commuting in and out of the city.

well my car started to misfire on idle now :( so i called up ford and asked them about it and asked them about the fuel usage, they said that they have had a few people coming in with the exact same problem (excessive fuel usage) and misfire at the same time and said that its just a computer software update ? he said that all the sensors are playing up, Ive booked it in for tuesday so we will see how it goes.

Hi All

Been keeping an eye on the fuel usage on our new 08 Fiesta, and last week filled up and got 8.1 lt/100 and filled up today and got 8.8lt/100.

All city driving and a Manual. Sticker on the windsceen when we purchased it said 6.6lt/100. But i guess thats a city/highway.

cheers

It is also commonly caused by water leaking through the washer jet rubber seals and getting onto the ignition leads/coil packs and causing them to ark against the head. This water can also get into the spark plug holes and cause the plugs to corrode/rust.

There have been reports of the ECU reflash/firmware upgrade failing to fix this (can't hurt though) but the replacement of the ignition lead and plugs resolving it. It's usually the one nearest to the oil filler cap.

Hopefully once you get the misfire fixed your fuel economy will be better.

You could go with iridiums but you are looking at $20 a pop. The standard ford ones are fine.

You'll only really notice an improvment if the old ones are shot... The Iridums will last a bit longer than a traditional type of plug. Mine cost me $17 each at super cheap... STD plugs would be no more than $8 each anywhere other than a ford dealer

Did you actually fill the car up to get some true consumpsion figures like i suggested yet?? i'm really keen to see a trusted figure from your beast :-P

i have a wq 06 fiesta 3 door manual and i getting on an average 360km every tank my best is 400km. possibly due to my 17" rims and rear muffler. but im kinda not caring about fuel aconomy now, im looking for a turbo kit for my 1.6 and i can't find it.

I have an '08 Zetec and found that on 91 RON I would get around 7.2-7.8 combined city/highway and lots of pinging when the welly is in but I have started using 95 RON and found that I get 6.6 -7 per 100km and much less pinging. Will be interested to see how much the A/C affects fuel consumption this summer. Used to have a VX commodore wagon and the savings in fuel are pretty much paying the loan at the moment - loving that!! The dealer told me that even though it is rated to run on 91 RON, he recommended that every 2nd or 3rd tank to fill with 98 RON. Goes noticably better on 98 than 91 but found that 95 is a good compromise on performance, eliminating pinging and price.
