FG Wagon: https://fordforums.com.au/showthread...n+wagon&page=9 - post #264

With regards to the Fairlane - the Australian Designed Ford Taurus for China, i think is the insight into what a FGX Fairlane would have looked like

They were the rumours at the time anyway. The only thing FPV officially owned up to was the intercooled miami version was developed alongside the non cooled Miami, cause they said they developed 2 versions. Was ready to go.
The GT Black bar I got had was used on the development car and still had a hose in it running left to right- there were intercoolers in either side of the bumper cavities of the prototype car that wore this bumper.

BLUESTREAK built 5.2L flat-plane-crank VOODOO with 3.2L Intercooled Kenne Bell blower, 1000rwhp/746rwkw @ 8000rpm @ 20psi on E85. Built ZF with BLUESTREAK 2C Circle D converter. Unbloodybelievable...

What was the actual problem with 'stress along the firewall'. Would aftermarket tuned FG's putting out double the amount of power exhibit this trait??

In short, over time yes indeed,
, the fg firewall would needed to have been strengthened.

Speaking to a fpv engine guy a few years back, commented you'd kill a fg shell before the motor

Damn, that's a little bit disappointing. Is that because the Falcon from EA to FG-X was basically an evolution with a few basic underpinnings carried over, with the firewall being one of them

I remember the spy shots of the development car in sweden, and you could see the heat exchangers in the holes the foglights would go in in normal GT's.

I remember seeing some where the wheel well trims on the front were clearly vented to allow the air to pass through

No, but does anyone remember the hardtop 2 door XT (circa 1968) which I think hit the Melbourne Motor Show, but no further. If I remember correctly, it was a nice looking hardtop.

Cheers.

I remember going to a car show and seeing the R5 for the first time in real life on the Ford stand and it blew my mind.

Me neither - especially when they had the American platform to work from
