I just saw an early 80's Hiace van with a fart cannon on it. The disease is spreading.

Ever heard of Liberty RS? Could be running that gear in it, although unlikely. Mmm sleeper! Plenty have done the turbo conversion on a povo pack before

Dr Rice can say all they want at least it belongs on a Japanese car and that exhaust is exactly what I'm after for my car.

Saw a VT SS with a cannon on the way home! :

My brother put a 5 inch cannon on his skyline, even tho i told him its rice to do so, well it lasted not even a day before he got sick of how loud and unbearable it made the car sound, it did sound good from the outside, but on the inside you couldnt bear to sit in it, and this was only a $70 cheapie from autobahn, now he has a performance sports muffler and his car sounds alot better.

that the difference.. $70 vs $400...
i think the $400 items work GREAT..
the $70 are not worth the milo tin they were casted from

my brother had a $200 odd cannon on his old KC laser 1.6 carby with 2" cat back exhaust no muffler and just the cannon
it was SO quiet!
the cannon was off of a WRX or Liberty from where he worked.

Some look ok, most look out of place and tacky. All sound annoying as hell to me and fake. wannabe exhaust note = rice imo.

Personally I don't like the look of them in most cases. They tend to scream "look at me, I Have little taste and a very large rectum".

The worst example I have seen is on a AU1 Forte with clear tail light lenses complete with peeling paint.

Worst example of a car equipped with the item in question is a early 90's Toyota Tarago, with some kind of botched vn ss looking front bumper sika-flexed to the front, with something about 'skdz' in it's personalised numberplate. See it at least twice a week, and **** myself laughing every time I hear it's droning athsmatic 4 cylinder 35hp automatic *** fart by.

Haha, my bad i dont really know the different Subie models, I know of the Liberty RS mentioned which was supposed to be pretty quick, esp with a few mods so i assumed this was a newer model or something.

But noones answered my question, just what kind of mufflers would you like to see on performance turbo cars?

Drainpipes? Larger stock-looking units?

I have no problem with the "cannon" as long as the car is japanese and has the performance to match. The Impreza RX is a big NO NO. The WRX on the other hand is quite acceptable.

Not my cup of tea - but to me they only suit Japanese turbo cars, on anything else they look rediculous. And I agree with Mitchay, angled looks better than straight. Straight cannons look even gheyer.

hmm..nothing beats a nice twin tip IMO.

The issue with cannons on smaller cars is that they are just to big, and sometimes are bigger than the tail lights on the buzz box..LOL

You can make a good sleeper out of them and best thing about it, the cops go after the WRXs and you can drive on by :eclipsee_

Like I said it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for that RS to have a EJ20, EJ22, or even an EJ257 which is the US STi block. You wouldn't be laughing when it wipes the floor with you Dr Rice!

Well where to start. Most cannon systems would fail noise and most probably emissions, but there are some that are legal (although expensive due to the R&D to make it compliant and are generally top shelf in terms of quality).

A lot of people wouldn't want the droning, I however like it.

How many people have exhaust systems on their otherwise stock cars? Are you going to pay them all out too?

Even on an N/A car so long as the exhaust is properly designed and a proper size, it will be a benefit.

Anyone got a soundclip or something of a V8 with a big fart cannon or two attached. Just out of curiosity and for a laugh.

it sounds AWESOME!
full twin system with teh cannons exiting either side of the number plate but at the bottom(to give you an idea of the spacing between them)

it looks respectible and sounds awesome
just a nice deep worked 5ltr V8
has a few "stage 3 bits and pieces(cams etc etc)" the owner said once when i spoke to him

Seen worse than the tarago previously mentioned too, there's an 84ish laser running around here that's rusted out, not a straight panel, got the MDF tissue boxes in the back for the 6x9"s and a 5" cannon draggin on the ground out the back, naturally held on with tie wire!!!

Always thought that "cannon" was just the term used for baggin out these pipes, that is until this afternoon. Went to local exhaust joint to price a balance pipe for the XR, while waiting to be served I noticed the rack in the showroom that was full of these bored out milo tins with a sign declaring "All Cannons 20% Off".
Upon seeing this, I jumped back in the XR and drove half hour to the next town to get the work done.

I've never heard a V8 sound good with a cannon. Not saying there isn't such thing.

PM me your number and I'll hold the phone near to the exhaust, we'll see how much ya laugh.

I hate ricers as much as the next bloke but they are just an exhaust component, it would be like a ricer forum running down 6/71's doesn't mean they're not tough just should be used in the right application.
