Just looked at a couple of the Caravan Parks close to town, the Cabins are around $65 for the cheapest, then $70onwards. So the Coachman are looking after us price wise.

I wont enter the show but I hope to book in the coming weeks.

Hey Meg, is it just me or did anyone else think that $30 per person at the Coachman is a bit steep for a feed? It wasnt that flash I thought, my interest is maybe we could eat at the pub just around the corner for heaps less, and still a good meal...Maybe I can check out some prices and stuff?

There's been nothing but favourable feedback about dinners at The Coachman for the past two years, this is the first negative that's come back.

Shaz, what was it you didn't like about the buffet apart from the price?

I'm afraid ordering individual choices for meals just wont work with a large group like ours. It would mean the first table that ordered has eaten their main and finished..... the last table ordered is waiting for their main to come out. It was like this the first year and we didn't have anywhere the numbers that attended last year.

For the record we'll probably be working off the same menu as last year....which is
fresh hot rolls and butter,
2 roasts (roast beef, roast lamb etc)
1 pasta dish (penne pasta w/ chicken, tomato tortellini etc)
2 hot dishes (chicken pieces, stir fry etc)
2 side dishes (roast veggies, salads etc)
desserts (pavlova, choc mud cake etc)
tea/coffee and mints...approx $29ph and there is heaps and heaps of food to go round.

Once everyone has been served their initial plate of food you are more than welcome to go back back for 2nds or 3rds.
Private bar and function room is also tied in. So you don't eat in the main bistro area or have to drapes thru there to the main bar to buy yourself a brew.

I'm afraid we can't expect a $10-$15 counter lunch for 20+people on a Saturday night.

Those of you bringing the kids along, there are kids meals available...just PM me if you wish to choose those for the kidlets and I will find out the choices available.

I really do apologise if this isn't ideal for everyone, I wish everyone could be happy with it, but it's the best I can do for the majority.

Hey Shaz, we started the Saturday Dinner as a semi-formal budget affair and kept it going because those who attended enjoyed the evening. I thought the food particularly last year, was great.
This year we are looking at making the dinner the presentation of trophies and listening to the wonderful acceptance speeches by the recipients.

Should be loads of fun!

I think the dinner was great. I ate so much last year that I had to take the cake with me. Then I had to share it with someone.

Your recollections of anything during the night after last years dinner are suspect and clouded in a fog of liquid refreshments. All this is evidenced by the "taxi" that dropped you home!

That was a wonderful top to stare into...

I still cant believe you got back to the cabins after us with your free taxi. Ben and I jogged from near the pub to like 1 block from the cabins and caught a taxi because it was too cold

That night was the absolute bomb though!!

Rough estimate to work off of based on an average of 2 people for dinner Saturday & Sunday night, plus accommodation for 3 nights, and entry into the show is around $400 for the weekend....about $12 per week to put away.

Allow $20 per week and it gives you a total of $700 to play with for all of the above, fuel, breakfast and lunch......"beer" money is extra of course.

Coming from Vic you will probably need a bit more for fuel. HTH

You can pay your entry at www.bseriesnationals.com either fill out the online entry form and then use the paypal link to pay, or download the entry form, fill it out and you'll find postage and payment details on that.

As far as accommodation goes, if you wish to stay with the group then scroll up a couple of posts for the accommodation link with prices. Post and let me know which room you would like, and if your staying Fri, Sat, Sun etc and I'll make the booking. PM me with your full name so I can give this to The Coachman and our records will be reconciled.

As for dinner on Saturday (buffet meal at The Coachman approx $30per head) and Sunday night (Chinese meal at the BSeries local in Parkes), you'll find the dinner attendees list there too, add your name and number of adults and children attending so we know how many to cater for.

That sounds like a great idea, last year there was no way to escape the sun. Even with sunscreen i still got a little burnt... boy did that hurt for a few days!

How much are those fold-up concertina ones at Supa Cheap, I think they flog 'em off as Car Ports?

I think there around a $100+.... I have one but it needs to be built, all the poles are separate. I'll invest in one that builds itself. :
