sorry to be a bit of topic but on the subject of LED's,

Do T10's fit as parkers?????

I don't see why not.

I just went down the shed and fitted a T5 LED into the parker of a spare headlight I've got.
It was loose but at a pinch I could get it to fit (and stay there) so there should be no problem with a T10.

In the back of your dash cluster the places where you're globes go will be like this (in a bent form, 1 & 6 at the bottom and 3 & 4 at the top - I tried to do that on here but it wouldn't show properly).

To be able to see the needles, in slots 2 & 5 I have put normal globes for enough light to light the needles, and in all the other spots super bright blue LED's (they have 3 LED's per socket). Lights up the dash quite nice.

And for the globes behind the ODO display - go into any Autobarn/Repco etc and quote the part number "Narva 47734", they're about $2 each. I haven't even bothered trying to replace them with LED's.

yes...i have t10 blue LED's as parkers. pain in the **** to fit though.

i have done the LED's in the dash...but they suck...where might i buy real old fashioned glass bulbs from? i know ebay doesn't have them going anywhere

The needles are a problem but the spotty effect is overcome by painting the top of the globe white. That tends to diffuse the light. When I was playing around with mine I came a cross some "three-legged" LEDs which you could splay the legs to suit the dark spots. They were much better but better again when I also painted the tips of them.

Mine are plenty bright enough and only one small darker area but the needles really do need sorting out.
I have that marked down at "Job 257" so there's a few jobs to get through first, lol.

Just for reference, these are "six-legged" leds. Would prob be better for diffusion than the three-legged that I used.

if they were t5's it might solve my problem...buy they are t10's.

i have tried the 3 legged ones...better than the single...but now by much, socket is too narrow to spread the 3 as wide as u want

in any case...it's just not the same as real glass bulbs

Oops, meant to say they are the "type" not necessarily the size.

I guess it's horses for courses. I much prefer the blue to the standard globes.

If I can work the needles out I'll be a happy chappy

edit: I just rem that I spread the "legs" (can we say spread the legs?) with a jewellers driver after I had the globe loosely fitted in the socket.

As riksta posted earlier i think he may have a solution to the needles.

replace 1,6 & 3,4 with the blue LED and leave 2,5 as the normal globes, i havn't tried it yet but if he says it works a treat then that's fine by me

the outside isn't the problem...it's the centre...less lights on a greater area mean poor lighting. mine is fine around the edges...but the speedo's lighting sucks

If we got glow in the dark paint and repainted the needles with it, would that solve the no needle at night problem ;)

No, I tried it.

The light needs to come from in front of the needles for that to work.

bugger, whats the difference between the S1 fairmont and S2? lighting wise, as i've seen pics of HLC's mont with the blue speedo and red needles/other red parts lit up.

I read somewhere that S1 needles are clear plastic with an orange coating. The coating could be scraped off leaving the needles clear.

S2's have orange plastic needles (no coating).

I don't know what else Henri did... perhaps he'll see this and comment.
