Shouldn't all you guys be posting on Australian Hyundai Forums ? No bloody wonder Ford Australia is in the problems it is in with falcon sales when the people who sign up to a FORD forum and you would like to think are Ford fans make comments like these . I think I might pop over to Australian Hyuandai Forums and talk up the Falcon .

1- go and read the title for this area of the forum and get back to us
2- it's a ford forum, not just a falcon forum

I'm pretty impressed with Hyundai these days....
I reckon they make great cars, and going by the number of old Excels I
still see around, it looks like they can bang on for a good few years too !

Ford fans can't appreciate all makes and models of cars? Doesn't that make us ignorant? If you don't like talk of different brands in The Pub section, perhaps you shouldn't read this section? Just a thought.

I've got an LV TDCI Focus, a WS Fiesta and an EL Fairmont Ghia, I think I qualifiy to post on here.

The Falcon and this thing are in two different classes anyway, chances are the people who go for the Veloster wouldn't even give the Falcon a look anyways, as the Falcon is a much bigger car and the Hyundai looks like this tries to appeal to a younger generation, the ones who care about all the tech gadgets rather than how well it actually drives, which basically describes me.

Which is why I also ended up with an EL Fairmont Ghia, because it has an awesome stereo with a 6 stacker, climate control, electric antenna and its comfortable to drive for long trips, not something I'd take through the stop start of the city though.

I wonder where Hyundai looked for design inspiration, or whether it was a coinkydink?

Either way, it is a nice looking car, side on and from the rear, not too sure on the front though.

Knowing Hyundai it will be well built and loaded with the good stuff at a cheap price. Unfortunately though it will likely suffer from a lack of driving dynamic as a trade off. This is common to most Hundys.

There is a lot of Megane RS influence in the design, for sure. But this is a good thing!

Give me the Renault any day over the geeky Hundy. It looks like the type of car nerds would drive.

No doubt like most Hyundais its ride/handling and steering will be rubbish.

My mother has a Hyundai ix35 diesel. I personally think it handles really well for a big car - it's a little stiff for my liking, but that enables it to handle well, and the steering it quite direct. I've also driven a new i45 which was a bit soft, but the same direct steering. I think some of the Australian motoring journos rubbish the Korean products steering and ride just because at times.

Geez I saw a green and orange one of these at our rival dealers. I have to say what an amazing looking hatch, I like how they haven't gone too safe with the shape, some will love it, others won't. Bummer about the standard 1.6L petrol, but who knows what the future will hold! First Hyundai thats made me turn my head.

Same here. I was in Brunei recently and saw these. They're quite striking in the metal and do make you look twice.

I think it looks better then both the Fiesta and Focus. On the road these look fantastic, very low (roof-line) and wide stance.

It would have to handle ok you would think, wide body, 18"s, I hear the chassis is quite stiff too.

I dont want to bag it too much, but would there be any point looking over your shoulder for motorbikes before changing lanes?

I think i spewed a little in my mouth when I saw the center console.

The instrument cluster and steering wheel appointments look good though.

Yup, smooth world class I6 and ZF6 v wheezy course 100kw 160nm 4 cyl that wouldn't pull a sailor off ya sister. Only prob you'd face choosing the XR6 is you might see one of these tacky akward looking things coming towards you. I'd take a guess and say a 10 year old ST170 focus or GTi6 306 will run rings around this thing.
I suppose young chicks will buy them, until the styling dates in 3 years time.

I had a look at one of these at the penrith dealership, still surprised by how much kit you get with it and there was so much interest with the public, they were always taking people for test drives.

I think they'll sell like hot cakes.

Maybe I don't want something Falcon sized as my daily driver? Probably the reason why I've had a 2009 Fiesta and 2010 Focus?

My TDCI Focus would probably run rings around it too considering it has the same power, but nearly 200nm more torque, but my Focus doesn't have a 7" LCD screen, 6 speaker stereo with sub all powered by an amp, a sunroof, reverse camera etc.

I might actually be able to fit my legs between the steering wheel and the seat in this, unlike the Falcon.

If the Falcon was THAT great, I'm sure it'd sell more than 19,000 cars a year.

I have to test drive it though, I know I'll miss the torque of the Focus and that will be a big decider for me, theres only so much that tech gadgets can win me over, it actually has to drive decently too.

Well I went and had a look at one of these today, gee was I impressed such a nice looking car in the flesh I wouldn't be ashamed to own one (only thing it might be a tad slow)
One thing that confused me I thought they were 3 and 5 door but there is only 1 rear pass door
No matter now the cook is keen on one and is going to look at trading her 08 fez in on one
Well done Hyundai you have made a very appealing car in my eyes
