Warranty begins from date of first registration, however if a new car's been sitting there and has been registered for months or a year, then that's a used car in my book and I wouldn't pay new car prices for it.

you do realise ford are in shut down mode and building to a specific number, and also likely building to order.

i swear some people come in these vfacts thread with the sole purpose of saying something negative against Ford.
vf commodore has shat on fgx from the moment fgx came out dude

I bought an undriven demo VE SS Ute a few years back.

It was sitting on the dealer’s lot with 30 something k’s on the clock and had been registered for two and a half months.

I wasn’t looking at buying another Ute at the time but I couldn’t walk past it at $35k drive away as they were selling second hand at the time for $37k.

The warranty started at the time it was first registered and not at the time I bought it and as much as I would have liked it to be the other way around, I could understand that’s not how it works and for the cheaper price I thought if it had a failure just out of warranty I’d expect some good will from Holden and hopefully they’d do the right thing by me.

The first set of graphical stats are uploaded now. As it is the end of a Quarter, the Supplementary and Segment data will also be available later.

I seriously doubt Ford intended for the FGX to get close to VF sales, in fact I'd say Ford don't want fgx's everywhere as it's the Falcon car do image they want to distance themselves from.

What they do want is profit and they are building to a number in order to make a small profit from the FGX.

Ford have been rediculed here by some for the past few years but I've said it all along, both Ford and Holden needed to move away from their Falcon/Commodore image, Ford have been doing this for a while and the transformation is starting to work, Holden are flogging a dead horse and when it's gone, they won't be in as good a position as Ford in my view. Well done to Ford I say...

Have to agree,Ford have been "shoring" themselves up for quite a while,& quite frankly who cares if VF is "shatting" over FGX.Ford are in a far better position than Holden, plus the fact they have a far better range of vehicles & more to come.

Camry vs Ecoboost Falcon sales then?

Good profit? Fleet/novated lease Rangers, in my (limited to about a dozen workmates/friends with new XLTs, Wildtraks) experience, cop a HELL of a whack off the RRP. But you're on point with servicing etc at the dealer - the numbers going through the workshop are where the $ is.

Again, Falcon Ecoboost "large car segment"wheris Camry is not in that segment. But if you want to be "picky" of course Camry is outselling Falcon "Four"(but it was never intended to be a Camry "beater".)

Rangers would still make money even with a drop in the RRP.

I don't want to quote anybody but the old chestnut of as long as you make a profit on every car it doesn't matter how many you sell that has been trotted out on this forum so many times is a load of crap and the flogs that profess this can go back and read their old posts and see where ford Aus are now .The proof is in the pudding if you sell volume at a loss the company can be profitable by making a profit on after sales service. If you sell by profit per item and are not a prestige marque and sell a quality product like Ferrari etc. you will cease to operate. Too all that disagree with me look at what has happened to the Aus car industry and get stuffed

Edit,
Mustang 382 sales

I see by Russell's six month data
Falcon......2,473
Mustang...2,499

That would kinda make the brass happy with the sales so far...

Is Ford making more cars than they have orders for? So there will still be stocks after the factorys close.
Seems they are selling about 75 cars a day (500 cars, 700 territories 300 utes in a month). What are they making?

RE profit on each car

Ford don't need to make a profit on each Falcon for it to be worthwhile continuing production in the short term (which they are now very much operating in)

As long as each car sold covers the fixed costs of producing it, then they are better off producing it, so that it can make at least a small contribution to variable costs

IE The cost of the steering wheel needs to be recovered, but the interest on the plant does not, as it is a sunk cost and needs to be paid in the short term whether cars are produced or not

So they have to be no 1? Then they wouldnt have shut?

So you have no idea about the industry. Btw Toyota is gone. The shut down plan is already set.
