street machine magazine built it then gave it away as a prize..

they relocated the B pillar back, and welded a couple of doors together for each side
they then chopped a couple of rear doors up to weld into the space for the back door
then a glass manufacturer got in on the project and made the glass for themmm

So they would have had to lengthen the front doors then??

Yeah I've got the scorcher's motor article somewhere. From memory it ran a test engine donated by Ford and ran a Delco efi tuned by a kalmaker setup. Ran edelbrock alloy heads, performer intake, 70mm TB and a COME cam. HM exhaust too. Good for 247kW at the flywheel.

Thanks Bucky, for all those people that keep messaging me regarding the bonnet business, this pic should explain what's going on. The front filters didn't clear the bonnet so I cut a hole through it, didn't like any scoops out there so I framed the hole in a matching alloy frame - true cold air intake now. Thanks to John_xr6 for the pic, I was too busy snapping others at the nats and completely missed mine.

Scorcher looks good, those rims do suit it imho, for the era too, late model muscle style mag. No way XR front, the whole car has been smoothed over, eg: check the C pillars too, twin head light would be too much detail, outa place. Maybe clear indicators.. But the car is ORANGE ffs! So it looks at home.

BAG IT is ИИИ nice too, I reckon leave the C pillar's, makes the car more detailed to go with the XR front, ie completely different car to Scorch. Might go with the majority on the wheels tho.. a retro, but still tuff 6 spoke or a traditional 5 spoke perhaps.

I reccon ive got the street machine issues with scorcher in it somewhere, most of them anyway. One sweet machine. It was a interesting concept when they built it. I saw it at the Adelaide hot rod show not long after it was finished.

Are you running quad carbs or are they throttle bodies ratman? Nevertheless, that thing would breathe pretty damn good and sound great when you put the boot into it.

8 throttlebodies mate with quad siamese filters and yes she is a very heavy breather sounds wicked when she's opened up, even better when I had only one muffler under it.
