You really know your shi!te don't you yagz! Thanks for all the advise Looks like i'll be having my xr6 cam ground to 1636 spec. How many ef/el shims would i need? And if i was to buy the vernier gears also how much would i be looking at?

You need one extra shim per rocker arm, so 12 all up.

Venier gear is around $100-130.

I'd chuck the cam in and see how the power is first before you worry about vernier. Organise a mod day, and i'll come round and watch you drop shins down the oil gallery

lol a mod day isn't a bad idea! Can't wait till i have the cam done now.
One more question.. how long does it take for Wade to have the cam ground? Will have to lend the old mans beast xf wagon for a while.
Off topic, have you had a recent photo shootout with Alex? Or is that from the last meet? Your avatar pic looks wicked!

What you do, is grab a standard cam, and get it ground. Don't use your XR cam. They will grind any XR bits out of it anyway. I have 2 standard cams sitting here ready to be ground, that way, you don't need to lend a car or have yours off the road.. I'm not sure how long they take, ask gthofan, as he works there.

I had a photoshoot with Alex, yes. Here are the pics ;)

Does anyone know if they can grind my cam to 1636 specs ? (dont know how it works lol)

cuz Ive got the Hybrid motor (AU rocker gear) and I would rather keep the hybrid parts in it, just throw a better cam in.

you could get a higher lift cam such as the 977B but then u will need new springs, and over all more buggerising around. but oh the rewards would be sweet hahaha

That sounds like a good idea Yagz. Does it have to be an EL cam? I'm assuming the cams are different on the EB-ED 4 litres?
And as for those shots, they look awesome! Your car looks mint! ;)

All cams 3.9 EA > 4.0 EL are the same. My 1004 112 wade cam has 87DA on it, and 3.9L.

I think what shuresm meant was they are all compatible apart from late EL's which run an AU style head and rocker ratio.

Are you sure you work for wade and grind cams for a living? ALL the cams are interchangable (except the 96DA/DT cams). All that's different is the numbers/names on the cam itself.

And what is a 94DD? You mean 94DT?

They're not different when comparing re-grinds, which is what we're talking about. The original profile becomes extinct.

I was answering the question. The side track that gthofan decided to have a wander on is just confusing people.

Yeah sorry. That's what we were talking about, so I didn't understand your post.

On another note, I hate E-series fords. :ymca:

That's what I was getting at with my e-series suck post. I'd love another cam, but our crappy ECU's aren't up to the job.

I can't be bothered going to a 1521a or bigger, because of the engine management side of things. It'd require valve springs, and probably a vernier gear.

I'm going gas soon, my car is staying the way it is.

Err, I don't want a 1521a :P

But yes, I know you can't get it.

Why is there no billet cams available?

oh by the way we are closed on weekends, so just drop it off during the week, or even send it in.
