The clearance is a bit worse than fitting an AU motor.

OK, I take it back. How did fitting the ECU go? As simple as running the loom and plugging it in or was there more involved?

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the mod sting you for?

Any chance of a 6 speed fitting? :sm_headba

I fear I may become a copycat, so I'll be watching with great intrest.

haha, its not close to running yet.

Im using an EMS 8860 as that is what I have at the moment. Im still looking into other aveunes before having it fitted.

You would need to cut holes to fit a 6 speed I think. Isnt it a longer box?

have you thought of a bonnet buldge to allow room for the motor to fit? it'll look sweet too!

Awesome. Respect is definitely for the doers, not the gunnas ;)

Have you considered cutting up/reshaping/putting together a couple of bonnets to make a slightly larger "bulge" than what the normal EA-ED bonnets have? I remember seeing a VP commodore which had this done, it was a SMOTY contender a couple of years back.

I have wondered how hard it would be to reshape the bonnet so it just sat a bit higher. The stock look would be sweet but I bet it would take a fair bit of effort.

Im not one to put in effort :P

Well done Dan can't wait to see it up and running, will the motor drop down just enough with the front bar moved and maybe the small part of bonnet bracing removed.

Looks like more room then an EF/EL possibly you can drop the engine mounts down as well.

Might have to copy you next year sometime after I clear my tax bill.

Im not sure about clearance yet. I think it will be close to clearing with the bracing removed from the bonnet.

Tomorrows jobs are to fit bonnet, put the clutch, gearbox and tailshaft in and clean the oil off the shed floor :P

Tailshaft will be interesting, does the motor sit on the same spot so the gearbox to diff distance is the same, I would like to hear about all the little details of what doesnt quite line up and the fix for it, more then how it got wired up.

Yeah it should make around that when its in and tuned.

It wont stay NA for long though. When I have holidays Ill take the sump to have a fitting put in for the drain back.

Im selling my GT3540 if anyone is interested. Its in the for sale section. Ill need the cash to get this car up and running asap then Ill rebuy all the turbo stuff down the track. Ill probably get something bigger.

Any other mods planned besides boosting it? Besides the extra height is the clearance the same as the old donk?

I hope to see some documentation further down the line

It should all be the same - ford only redesigned the front of the motor to drive the twin cam setup and the oil pump, so the distance from engine mounts to the back of the motor should be the same.

Hey dan....I hear Rmyers is considering selling some of his stereo stuff :P
