I saw some 'Mericans being interviewed today that think it is all engineered and it is all a hoax.

While you can debate all day about how bad it is, it is another level to to think it doesn't exist at all

I think they're coming back - on the news tonight Metcash who are one of the grocery wholesalers supplying supermarkets announced that it's struggling to catch up from recent times let alone get ahead and they're expecting shortages over the Christmas period.

So people will probably end up panic buying again

These days there is plenty of TP. Also **** loads of sanitiser and masks at the local Woolies. The masks are all made in China.

Literally 3 different brands and they were all marked PRC. I went to Bunnings the other day and heaps too.

Even the ones in my cupboard that mum bought are PRC. Keeping some safe just in case I need them in a pinch and the stocks get cleared out.

I know the army got involved in the mask making. I'm guessing they are keeping that stock for the medical profession?

SL have so far had just over 3'000 cases and only 12 deaths! Yes, 12 deaths. I read that they went the way of somewhat of an elimination strategy very early into the pandemic, and the entire country was under full lockdown + curfew from 20th March. The lockdown lasted 52 days only. They built 45 all new quarantine centres, which to date has quarantined almost 3'500 returning locals and visiting tourists. It was very strict quarantine conditions and they did not muck around with security, having the army (fully armed) on guard duties.

Just makes you wonder if a 3rd world country like Sri Lanka with a similar size population to us, all living on an island the size of Tasmania can beat this virus, how the hell did our 1st world country get it so wrong??

I'd like to to full comparison report between the two countries strategies and how they managed beat this thing compared to us. But I cannot find enough details. Maybe Russell has more info/detail on this?
The Sri Lankan people probably care for their aged citizen better than us.

The thing is even here it's pretty a close split between 0-29 and 30 to 60. The 60+ is actually minority funnily enough when it comes to cases. Sure our oldies will make up most of the deaths, but that surprised me.

52 new cases for Australia and 11 deaths sees the CMR rise to 3.00% while active drop to 2,551. NSW recorded 10 cases; Queensland 2; SA recorded 1 with the balance in Victoria. The Victorian State 14 day moving average is now 74.29 with metro at 65.3 and regional already below the next milestone target at 4.7.

1 new cases and zero deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.339% and active cases fall to 114.

The UK had 3,539 new cases yesterday, the highest since May 26th. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore those figures.

Just over 40k new cases in the USA yesterday and 1,089 deaths sees CMR fall to 2.979% and active cases drop to 38.1% with the raw numbers rising again. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences.

Other notable points:
The USA completes 90M, India 54M, UK 19M & Philippines 3M tests;
Europe passes 4M cases;
Asia records a new daily high of 127,894 new cases;

Tunisia (377), Hungary (718), Costa Rica (1,420), Nepal (1,454), Morocco (2,430), Ukraine (3,144) and India (97,654) all recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

Is that the first time that our CMR is higher than US? Wow that puts it perspective given they couldn't organise a **** up in a pub these days and for the most part our governments have been on the same page where as they are all over the place.

You don't have to wear the mask when exercising - if you watch the video you'd have noticed that, also none of the mainstream media wear masks when presenting in Melbourne

Where is this pool of unemployed police officers where they can hire so many? Or is it like the hotel quarantine and you just get hired by a text message with no training?

Coroner to review youngest COVID-19 death

A coroner will investigate the death of a man aged in his 20s who was previously reported to be Australia's youngest COVID-19 fatality.

The man, who has not been publicly identified, has been categorised as a 'reportable death' by the Coroners Court of Victoria, it was revealed on Thursday.

Deaths confirmed to be the result of COVID-19 and other illnesses are not deemed a reportable death, the coroner's office confirmed.

Reportable deaths include cases of suspected violence, accidents, homicide, suicide, or instances involving drugs, alcohol and poison or when the person's identity or cause of death is unknown, the coroner's website states.
https://www.canberratimes.com.au/sto...ovid-19-death/

I guess the under 30s are back to zero confirmed deaths.

Hey Franco, why didn't you attended the protest? You seem to make a lot of noise about it all from behind your keyboard. Scared of a little bit of rain? Or was it the possibility of catching a little cold or a flu that put you and your people off attending the "freedom" march??

Thanks for including the Vic regional average, Russ.

Just to clarify the bold bit, especially so no one in regional Vic gets their hopes up too early, the milestone target is:
  • daily average number of cases in the last 14 days in Regional Victoria is less than 5
  • there are 0 cases in Regional Victoria with an unknown source in the last 14 days

Whilst the DHHS website is not clear, presumably those milestones are an 'and' and not an 'or'.

While the average number of cases is below the target, unfortunately, the number of unknown source cases is at 7.

Whether those unknown source cases can be resolved with the additional focus on case tracing remains to be seen.

Anyone notice the names of these Melbourne based anti-COVID, anti-masks, anti-5G, anti-lockdown, anti-this, anti-that cult leaders/influencers who have been in the news lately, desperate for their 15min of fame?

A few names listed below:

James Bartolo
Avi Yemini
Fanos Panayides
Raphael Fernandez
Tony Pecora
Solihin Millin
Vik Grujic

To name a few.

Most are Italian, Greek, Middle-Eastern background surnames. Or Wog's and Lebo's in 'street talk'. Coincidently, some the most highly religious communities around the world. Says quite a lot about their mentality and psych really. They all tend to believe that some man with a beard living up in the sky will come down to earth and save them one day.

No Smith, O'Brien, Johnson, Jones ? Wouldn't have guessed the Italian/Greek, normally a good, constructive addition from early immigration. Lawlessness for the Mid East is a way of life, seems to be genetic
Added: Cant paint anyone the same, to be Australian is to give everyone a go. We need good people, they come from everywhere.
Have met some half weight, half wit aussies / brits / americans also...

Coronavirus: Chinese defector claims COVID-19 came from military lab
A Chinese virologist who fled to the US after Beijing tried to silence her has vowed to publish “proof” of her controversial virus claims.

Christy Cooney, The Sun

A Chinese virologist who fled to the US after claiming China covered up the coronavirus outbreak has vowed to publish proof the virus was made in a lab.

Dr Li Meng-Yan has previously backed claims Beijing tried to silence anyone who attempted to raise the alarm when the virus first broke out in Wuhan last year.

Dr Li travelled to the US in late April before speaking out, saying she had to leave Hong Kong because she “knows how [China] treat whistleblowers”.

From the early stages of the pandemic, reports emerged of doctors being detained after trying to warn others about the virus on social media.

Journalists also had their equipment confiscated after trying to report on the issue.

Dr Li, a formerly a specialist at Hong Kong’s School of Public Health, has said her supervisor first asked her to investigate a new “SARS-like” virus in Wuhan on December 31 – but that her efforts were later stifled.

She said she reported back that cases appeared to be rising exponentially but was told to “keep silent and be careful”.

“’We will get in trouble and we’ll be disappeared’,” her supervisor reportedly said.

She has also backed claims that the virus came not from a meat market in Wuhan, and is widely thought, but from a virology institute in the city.

‘THEY CALLED ME A LIAR’

Speaking on British TV show Loose Women from an undisclosed location on Friday, Dr Li said: “It comes from the lab in Wuhan.”

She then explained: “The genome sequence is like a human fingerprint.

“Based on this you can identify these things.

“I will [use this] evidence to tell people why this has come from the lab in China, why they are the ones who made it.

“Anyone, even if you have no biology knowledge, will be able to read it, and check and identify and verify it yourself.”

She also said Chinese authorities began efforts to discredit her even before she fled the country.

“They deleted all my information and also they told people to spread rumours about me,” she said.

“That I’m a liar, I don’t know anything, I just killed a hamster in the lab.

“They will try to control my family and friends and then suddenly I don’t exist.”

Experts have previously cast doubt on claims that the coronavirus was made in a laboratory.

The vast majority of scientists who have studied its genetic makeup have concluded that it is naturally occurring and was passed to humans from an animal, probably a bat.

Writing in a research paper published earlier this year, immunologist Kristian Andersen PhD of the Scripps Research institute in California said: “By comparing the available genome sequence data for known coronavirus strains, we can firmly determine that [COVID-19] originated through natural processes.”

Avi Yemini is a son of Zephaniah Waks, who was just “Steve Waks” before he fell in with the chassidim fifty years ago. Does Abe Waks sound so foreign?

I don’t especially agree with some things he does and has done, but he’s young and there’s time to make it right. In respect to his activism for the current cause célèbre, I choose to believe he has an eye on the welfare of others, and is not wholly about self-promotion.
