both of them 'wet' :-)

Seriously, modern manufacturing, AUTOCAD etc, should be at the point where you type in "Double-Cab RTV, 5.0, Premo sound, etc etc" and press a button = the robots make it.

There's a reason bentley interiors are still mostly hand made and assembled. People do it better.

Maybe not Australian people...

don't look too much into the CGI, remember Ford will not reveal all specs until closer to launch. The whole reason why they use CGI, at the click of a button, they can remove any number of details or identifying features that they still want to keep to themselves.

Thanks JPFS1! Looking forward to seeing that colour if it is available. I also wish that I had your Photoshop skills to change the front and rear pictures we've been seeing - the different colours really do change how the car looks IMO.

It just needs some orange peel thrown in and it would be perfect.

I am happy with the style and the name.
Cant wait to get one.

Be interesting to look back at this thread
in 2 to 3 years and see what comments
where made by people who then bought a FGX.

Like the AU, not many liked them
but a lot of people own them now

I know that my initial impression never changes later on. I saw the AU first in Wheels in 1998, and the models I didn't like, I still don't (Forte grille and hubcaps, anyone?), and the ones I did, I still like. I can't say I've ever seen a car and disliked it early, and come to like it later.

I love the front of this model, as well as how it blends with the existing door/pillar/glasshouse, and the rear isn't throwing me off either. I'm not in love with it, but neither do I dislike it. The XR8 looks nice from behind, so I'm not worried about that.

Come on Ford, giz some interior shots and indicative pricing!

An XR8 in Black minus rear spoiler would look horn as would a silver one.

I think the best thing will be seeing those front head lights lit up.
I think they will have some sort of 3D look / Dimension to them.
You can see a similar thing in some of the new mustang videos when the lights are on and the camera shifts to different angles ect.
The tail lights will also look amazing lit up.

We need to see a video of the XR8 driving at dusk with the lights on to see all the glory.

I've never seen a badge placed on the bumper before.

EF-EL still had metalwork between the taillights and the bumper. Under the taillights on the FGX, it's plastic. I think having the badges there would look weird.

Badge placement is awkward, yes. I'd move it, but I think it only needs to be moved a bit further left and a bit further up.

A few cars have badges on the bumper, 380 is one that comes to mind.

Great links, thanks for sharing.

You did forget to include the article below though....and in my opinion goes to show how the yanks couldn't swallow their pride and accept that the Aussies had something right at a time the yanks didn't (2006). The falcon should have been accepted as a global car years ago & factories retooled to build them.

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...-save-ford-now

After seeing what the pesky Aussie engineers/designers have done with the latest shoestring budget, the suits back in Detroit must just shake their heads in amazement. I guess when you think about things, it's probably the reason the Aussie engineers/designers/testers/PD have been spared the chop, it is recognition of their remarkable efforts in the last decade or so. The greatest shame is we are losing the factory and it's hard workers. Oh what might have been. Ah well, at least we get the FG X.

I totally agree.
When I saw how they’d attached the badge to the 380 I thought no way am I buying that.
Or was it when I saw what they’d attached to the badge I thought I’m not buying that.
It was one or the other, I can’t remember which.

The way it goes when you nail it proves to me it ain't no 315. It was seriously quick.

Have to say the stability/traction control is absolutely seemless. All you can tell that it's working is the light flashing, it doesn't hold the power back at all. Previous Falcons felt like they had lost 100 kw when the TC engaged.

I will never understand why Ford America will never accept and swallow there pride that our 4.0 I6 Turbo is one of the best engines on the planet if our boys had the money BMW Merc n co have for development n the falcon wasn't finishing up could you imagine that engine in 10 years time. All it needs is an alloy block to live on past new emissions laws. They should also be equally impressed what we've done with their 5.0 coyote. At least our falcon is going out with two great engines that the American public would do anything to get their hands on. ( specially the turbo6) LONG LIVE THE FALCON!!
