No. Victoria has great ski fields, Sandown, Winton, Philip Island and wineries

Nothing wrong with Victorians, just those who are meant to be in control

Nothing really wrong with Victoria!it,s the 5-6 million people who live within 50 kms of the city that are the problem, but unfortunately the ones that live outside that radius are the one forced to suffer

Tassie needs every single person on the mainland. Without the 1.9 times it gets back for every dollar it contributes you would be living in old bark huts again in no time without us

Time to name and shame...and deport. Do a background check, can't be one of ours. Interesting that she actually owned up and got tested.....must have been pretty crook, or an attempt to sabotage (tin foil hat).

Melbourne family caught breaching Australia-New Zealand travel bubble rule

Three Melbourne residents have been caught trying to get into New Zealand during Victoria's coronavirus lockdown.

New Zealand director general of health Ashley Bloomfield, told a press conference on Wednesday that the three drove from Melbourne to Sydney and then flew to Auckland last week.

The NZ Herald reported they were going to attend a funeral and they would have to pay for their quarantine stay.

From memory it was Harold Holt who heavily reduced Opposition access to national security briefings, effectively consolidating his position at the top and perhaps instigating the most formal* phase yet of pitting Australian against Australian. A trickle down was inevitable.

More seriously, who believes these two sets of bolters (the Kiwi-bound and Queensland lovers) are the only ones? Or just the only ones caught?

*I note, before others raise it, this overlooks the historical conflict between colonial and indigenous Australians.

The sneaky reason Covid-infected woman drove through a remote country town to cross Queensland border after fleeing lockdown with her husband

Quote:
Police believe the couple crossed the NSW-Queensland border at the remote rural town of Goondiwindi on June 5 in a bid to evade authorities.

There are also reports the woman lied on her declaration form when entering Queensland, sparking public outrage.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...tes-alert.html

EDIT...

Melbourne woman, infected with Covid-19, travelled from Victoria to Queensland by car during lockdown

Quote:
A Covid-positive Melbourne woman who took a roadtrip through NSW and Queensland only got tested because her husband needed negative results for work purposes, despite having symptoms for the previous five days.

Travelling with her partner from one of Melbourne’s outer suburbs, the woman, 44, left Victoria on June 1, four days after Victoria’s lockdown started.

It’s understood the woman broke lockdown to visit her family in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.

It was there she tested positive on June 8 after joining relatives, but had been experiencing symptoms since as early as June 3.

If they don't get a prison term then it will just give a green light for others to do the same.

The other side of the coin is that having harsh penalties will mean people won’t get tested if they are doing the wrong thing which puts a greater risk into the situation.

As much as you would like to see them in stocks in the town square I think it is the wrong thing to do. Victoria faced this situation last year.

I reckon QLD have probably dogged a bullet in this one. Looks like they were late in the infectious stage. Hope NSW is lucky too

similar but not exactly the same, no prison for this border offence,

https://7news.com.au/news/crime/qld-...-lie-c-2600418

IMO with this case, These young women got severely dealt with publicly on social media, due to the media revealing who they were! Yet before and after this case, every other offender gets protected and none of their identities were ever publicly exposed. where is the fairness or balance of reporting here?

There should be more severe consequences for these border/ lock down breaches, it just might deter some, probably not all.
Prison? Probably not enough room in our prisons for this at the moment though.
and yes IMO there would be a heap more who have done the border/ lockdown breach, they just haven't been caught.

Id say a decent fine and some community service would be about it...Id like to agree with prison but I dont think that is really going to help anyone.

Repossession of assets if sizeable fine cant be paid.

Hard to follow the logic. The lady got tested because her husband needed a negative test for a job application? A person, who broke the law, and lied on the declaration form, decided to voluntarily go for a test?

Is there anyone here who's had their second pfizer shot yet? Did you get side effects afterwards and were they pretty mild? I've heard your immune system basically mounts a full-scale war on the simulated attack and you might feel pretty off. I've got a lot planned next week and trying to figure out whether to reschedule a couple things, or if it's do-able enough to push through.

I doubt you'd get an answer.....it is likely that anyone who has had the 2nd shot of pfizer will be unable to post.

My wife has had both Pfizer shots. The first one she felt fine with a slightly sore arm. The second one knocked her around. She said it felt like glandular fever.

My wife and I have had both Pfizer shots. I had no side effects except for a bit of soreness at the top of my arm, almost unnoticeable. My wife had a higher temperature (38.3) and felt unwell for about 12 to 18 hours. After that she was fine.

That newspaper neglected to mention that the 'remote town' is on the main highway for traffic from Vic, SA and WA

If they wanted to be sneaky they could have crossed at Texas, about 1hr east of Gundy.

From Queensland Health Minister:
Quote:
“I don’t want to jump to conclusions before we have all the facts, specifically if they had a travel declaration,” she said.

“The husband was here with a new job, and we know that is one of the grounds that people can travel, but I don’t have the details so I’m not going to judge anyone’s behaviour until I know all the facts.”

The state’s Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said she had not granted the couple an exemption to travel, so it was up to police to investigate whether they had been given an exemption through any other channels.
It is a strange scenario, so there could be more to it.

Goondiwindi is also known as Gundy due it being pronounced Gundawindi.
