Also a camber kit may be a good idea if you don't like the idea of replacing the rear tyres every 20,000

You would only need a rear camber kit (front has camber adjustment already), and even then it’s not a necessity. The camber on my car was only slightly out (although it’s an XR5 and it has a different suspension set up to yours, so it’s probably not a good guide), but as long as you rotate your tyres regularly, you will still get good mileage.
You should be able to find a mechanic who will fit them for $150 or so, and after getting a wheel alignment, probably get away with it for around $500 - $550. I’d offer to help you myself, but I don’t have the required gear, and because I had someone else do most of the work, I wouldn’t be 100% confident of what I was doing anyway.

Thanks for the offer I'll investigate!
Wish I'd saved the extra money to get the XR5...Insurance would hurt though!

Getting a xr5 turbo insured for an under 25 is only 2-4% more than a zetec, unless heaps of people that match your demographic in your area have crashed heaps of xr5turbos.

Hi Guys
I have my Focus CL with the 17" Zetec Wheels. I want to get it lowered (slightly) as I think it sits too high on the wheels. I actually want it to look like factory height rather than 'looking' lowered. I know the Zetec sits around 10mm lower than the standard and I believe the XR5 is another 15 mm lower so I was hoping to lower it no more than 25mm but preferable around 15-20mm. I have spoken to Pedders and there Sportsrider suspension lowers the car 35mm and I spoke to the distributors of the Eibach springs and they are lowered 30mm. What would be my best option for lowering the car around 15-20mm? Also if someone has a lowered Focus on the Factroy 17" could you post a side profile shot and let me know how much lower than the standard suspension it is? |

Might be worth finding out what a set of genuine XR5 springs will set you back

Hey Aston.. go jump over to www.fordxr5turbo.com and post on the forum you might be looking for some XR5 springs.
A few people have changed to the eibachs so they might have some sitting in thier garages. |
