yeah even out in riddells creek the house shook for 5-10 seconds was quite a surreal experience. Bit of a rumble noise, moved some doors a little lol.

yes indeedy, i posted in the recent geelong quake thread, is there something bigger brewing? do we have any seismologists on FF? even though it was pretty small, still pretty scarey, at about the 10/15 second mark i was wondering if it was goes going to go ballistic.

Earthquake of 5.2 just wreaked havoc in the small victorian town of Moe, destroying every building in town. Damage bill estimated to be about $18.50..

About 30-40 seconds here in the Dandenongs. Being from Napier in NZ, my wife and I are quite used to them, but at about the 20 second mark it seemed to grow, so I took my daughter and stood under the doorway. I'm not used to having a tiled roof in a quake (hell of a weight up there), and we've got 140-160ft trees just metre's from the house so I thought it was best to let my instinct kick in, just to be safe (kind of)

Cheers,

Kraig

I just saw that picture of inside the Coles store on Sky News. Other than lost stock, I hope damage down there is minimal.

The parents felt it in North Ringwood as I left the house earlier. I didn't feel it and neither did my brother who was with me.

4 or 5 earthquakes in the past few years and I haven't felt any of them!

a little excitement for sure, but pretty tame. the police helicopter overhead shakes the house much more than that tremor ever could

my first experience of an earth quake

First i thought there was someone in my backyard tying to take some car parts

then i feel the windows shake, then my couch starts moving a little

and to top it all off, my missus turns white

yep, our first ever encounter

No damage, yet

we don`t get quakes much in Melbourne(well not noticeable ones anyway), this is about only the 2nd i can remember in/around most of my 50 + years in Melbourne, because of that i have always thought if we had the "big one" the place would be devastated, i have no idea how good our building standards are for quakes, most of the old places i`ve lived in would be rubble after a big one i suspect.

Here in Sunbury the closed door to the room I was in was rattling very lightly for several seconds. Thought it was the central heating air flow causing it, seemed strange, but now I know what it was. Mystery solved.
