I don't think any of these articles show a finger on the pulse.
A bit of beat up - not much substance. |

It will take them a while to trial fit all the required gear to that Mustang.

Mustang? Hope the HWP know how and when its rear fog should be used, or that it actually has the function!

Was it this threads that stated the Aurion didn't pass the brake test??
I think the Aurion would be the best option for HWP duties. They are large, have decent performance and still available here for a comparable price to a Falcadore. If the brakes were the only issue I'm sure there is an upgrade in the Toyota parts bin that would solve that issue.

I'm calling either the Chrysler 300, Future Mondeo/Taurus thing with the 2.7L, or the Insignia VXRs to take the contract.

Yes, but unlike the the Falcon & the RWD Commodore, Camry & Aurion are produced in car factories in other parts of the world & will be imported fully built-up in the future, perhaps in updated form by that timeframe.
The Falcon & Commodore as we know them are finished, but not so the Toyota duo. Dr Terry |

Australia is the only place where the Camry and Aurion are sold along side each other.
Looking at the sales of the Aurion, id find it hard to imagine them importing both in the future. Even a V6 option the Camry would be unlikely

Yeah doesn't look like Camry will be first choice. I believe they are considering the 300c.

Yep - "heard" the same thing.
They're considering heaps of different cars. Not many have cut it. |

Why not
They are RWD 3.8 V6 232KW 297NM 8 speed overseas there is also a 313KW V8 (but I think they are phasing it out) and I also read they have AWD options. Im sure for Police Fleet sales Hyundai could produce a less expensive version. minus some of the Luxury features

Doubt they will phase out the V8 - it's probably quite popular in the US market.

I think any of these models will make a great replacement police car.

The time has come where the police, and all govt departments, will now have a "choice" to use whatever vehicle suits their needs. There has always been pressure(rightly so)to use locally manufactured vehicles for govt fleets(particularly here in SA with Holdens manufactured locally). So now there is a more choice and price points for them to choose from.
While in the U.S.A last year I was fascinated by the variety and number of vehicles in one Police service area. I had a chat with an officer and the story was that ranked officers and section managers were able to take a vehicle as part of their salary. They could choose any sedan/suv within a price range, it was fitted with minimal markings, emergency lights and communication devices. This became the officers full time personal vehicle which put more police cars out into the community and reduced fleet costs(purchase, maintenance, storage, etc).

What ever they end up with, it will cost more then the Falcons and Commodores do, so the government are going to spend more of our money to steal more of our money, oh thats right its not stealing/ revenue raising its road safety.
Thanks Tony and Joe |

Chargers were part of the Police fleet. Vic Pol are getting 530D Bimmers for HWP. At the moment general duties are Commodore, Falcon, Camry, Territory and Aurion.
