Also, If my research is correct, they may be considering a 'smaller' Falcon for the next-gen platform. So this would indeed open the door for a T-Bird to be platform-buddies with the Falcon.

A premium Lincoln sedan would need to be a bit larger, more like the current E8 size, which is convenient because it would open the door for a new Fairlane in Australia. Smaller than a traditional sized Fairlane, but still bigger than what the Falcon would be with the new platform.

What the articles are saying is that the falcon six is outdated because it has been around for 50 years. When in fact the ONLY thing that remains unchanged is the actual spacing of the cylinder bores. There is absolutely nothing negative about this! If you are on to a good thing, keep it that way! BUT the media use it in a negative way saying the engine built in 2010 is somewhat unchanged from the one built in 1960...idiots

No idea why though. Discussing future plans/funding? Who knows.

Probably just a demonstration/walk-through. Might also be something to do with the Bosch deal.

Well all it could be is a new engine line being introduced, or some sort of upgrade to the I6. There is nothing else it could be.

That incorrect rumour/story/media release about the 2.7TD being made here was just that, wasn't it?

Right. So we know that the 2.7TD, EcoBoost 4cyl and the Coyote are essentially crate engines and will require little if any local involvement from the engine plant. FPV's tinkering with the 5.0 not included.

There is no other engine that would conceivably fit into FoA's product planning apart from the V6 which was canned and will more than likely stay canned for a long time, if not forever.

So that leaves upgrades to the I6.

did you see what Mr Carr said in the recent past about the Australian car manufacturing future? Ive read between the lines and I reckon they're going to announce a new export opportunity/partnership with china. Possibly engines if he was in Geelong, but if he was in Broady there may be something more to it...
