Now that's interesting.

The only tremor I've ever head about happening in Brisbane was about 10 years ago, but it was extremely minor and was probably almost unfelt.

What a bizzare feeling. Was on my couch and first thought it was a loud truck passing next to the house. But it kept going and I sensed the couch gently shaking. Also noticed both my cats had sat up and were alert. A new experience which I would not want to feel very often.

That's a bit harsh, not all single mothers are dole bludging slappers, some people just don't have the best luck in life.

Didn't feel anything here. Apparently it was felt in Belmont (Geelong) though.

Any aftershocks from the 5.5? Anything over a 5.0 here in christchurch we normally get a few aftershocks in a row. Hopefully thats the only one you guys get of that size, trust me. Although after nearly 2 years of shaking, you sort of get used to it.

Cheers,

Brendon

Risk Management - no problem, nothing to report. Kids are having fun, everything fine. It's when they DO ring you stress.

apparently quite a few people in my area (Albury Wodonga) area felt it. In fact my housemate swears his bed shook a little, but I was in the next room, and I felt nothing....I feel shortchanged in some way!

It was quite strong, down Seaford/Patersons lakes way, low roar, then house shook, woke up the kids and rattle doors windows etc, it lasted for awhile too I thought (enough time for me to realise what is happening and get up and check the house out whilst it was still shaking)

Felt it in Sale. Lasted at our place for about 5 seconds or so, but friends whose house is on stumps felt it for longer. I intitally thought that my daughter had got out of bed and was shaking the back of the chair I was sitting in. I was about to turn around and tell her to get back to bed when I noticed the fish in the tank on the sideboard were doing crazy surfing stuff and realised it was a tremor.

Mind you, the missus didn't feel a thing. Nor did her parents who live a few streets away, so maybe it runs in the family.

Took 3 of our 4 generators off line at work due to excessive vibrations in the turbines. Also took the only generator Yallourn had back on line following the flood in their mine!

The futher you are away from a epicentre the harder it is to feel

In saying that if you are completly still like laying in bed sitting on the couch it can be easier to feel

Western suburbs of Melbourne here.

Was watching a horror film and the window behind me to the right started knocking. It gave me a fright because it was a steady frequency like a person was doing it in the dark out there. Then I felt the rumble and felt the ground move under my feet.

Went outside and the birds were chirping, the trees must have shook and woken them up! Lots of dogs barking also.

I live 3 miles from Melbourne Airport and sometimes you get the strong rumble of big jets taking off and it's given me a few racing hearts today!
