Yeh, everyone basically said it. go through tafe (thats how i got to uni), though, i was lucky enough to get into this firm through a friend, in sydney i found it hard to get a job so this was by luck.
I guess if u want it for the money then from what ive heard, mechanical/electrical/hydraulic drafting gets heaps more. I chose archtecture mainly cus one day i want to be able to see a building with my name on it if u know what i mean ;).
I reckon just do something you WANT to do. Drafting IMO gets abit repetitive, and seeing lines here and there kinda gets frustrating lol, though moving onto the 3d side is where interesting stuff happens. Not meaning to turn you off, just giving you the heads up

To be honest i don't really know what I do. Turn up to a building every morning 5 days a week, stay there for 8 hours and go home.

It's all just a sleepy blur to me.

Yeah I know, we're still in the dark ages, but we're at the blunt end of the market, lol. The bloody thing is constantly giving us trouble too. I think theres only 1 or 2 printers in our city using CTP and they're far bigger than us.

Currently work at Coles, until I can find someone to take me on as an apprentice sparky. It's really starting to drain it, due to not many people wanting to take on apprentices right at the moment. If anyone knows someone wanting to put on an apprentice sparky please let me know. I would really appreciate any help.

I used to be a die-cast engineer which was very hard work and during the summer it was unbearible because the factory had iron roofing. The boss wouldn't even close early once the outside temperature got to 30 degrees (Inside temp would get to around 50 + degrees during summer).
But due to my health problems I am now looking for a less strenious line of work.

What do you do at Coles? I used to work nightfill at Safeway and it's a pretty boring job.

Just part-time on the weekends and pick up 2 or 3 shifts during the week until I get full-time work. I find it draining sitting round at at home doing nothing. I pretty much do all jobs involved in the grocery department except for ordering. It's ok, but not ideally where I want to be in 10 years time.

i'm in the box seat to run the 10 colour when its up and going next year. sounds like fun.

not exactly a career for those affected by stress though. the young feller that works opposite me is only early 20's and going grey. always running around like a headless chook.
Yeah i dont know how many people we have that are either grey or going bald, good luck with the 10 colour mate.

Actually thats being discussed this week, they came up with the time line for the close down and the "seperation package" including monetary incentives for going to 'Broadies' etc.
So we vote and we wait and see what comes next.
