Had to laugh at that bit. No SMS, no email, no website, just write on the front of an envelope. So 1994, it's great!

Will be watching next week, hope it comes back for good!

I missed the 1st hour but watched the rest.

Molly didn't seem to be with it.

Plucka was still very funny.
Red faces was good except the first act.
The chick that hosted Plucka with Daryl is hot as!

I watched through to the end of Red Faces and then was easily distracted by something so interesting I can't remember why I stopped watching.

Was nice to see on air again but really didn't float my boat.

Highlight for me was any chance to see Lavinia again:

2.16 million bogans watched the show last night, no surprises that it rated highest in Melbourne where you guys just love your Dags.

Default MasterChef fails to cook Daryl Somers' duck

Billed as the greatest television war since M*A*S*H, last night's clash between nostalgia and cooking ended not with a cooked Plucka Duck but rather a whipped MasterChef.

Nine's heavily-publicised renuion of its iconic 1990s music variety show Hey! Hey! It's Saturday was a ratings atomic bomb, flattening the competition and drawing 2.1 million viewers nationally.

Ten's Celebrity MasterChef, which many had expected to cook Daryl Somers' duck, attracted only 1.3 million nationally.

It is a huge windfall for Nine, which was reeling from a flat launch for its reality franchise, The Apprentice Australia, on Monday night. It barely dented the ratings with just under 700,000 viewers.

Ten will be consoling itself in the knowledge that the MasterChef franchise is a slow burn. When it launched earlier this year it barely nudged a million, but it finished with more than three million viewers.

Nine, meanwhile, will be watching closely the ratings for this Saturday's second instalment of Hey! Hey! before deciding whether it will commission a new series.

Sensational.... Just like I remember...

That bit with Marty and Maurie fields (The Great Australian Joke)....
that was magic... and i'm sure very difficult for Marty to do...

I don't think it will work as a permanent show.... but certainly as a special... its great!

Ok JClarke, what gives, are in you the production of it?

I recorded it and hopefully will have a laugh tonight. Watched MC and it was pretty ordinary.

The Plucka chick is Suze Raymond and I don't have to tell you she is smoking hot.

Really enjoyed the show - felt like they had never left. Loved Red Faces - the Vegemite Kid was fantastic.

I'm of the same age of most who watched it back in the era, it was always something i watched as i was getting ready to go out on a Saturday night.

For me last nights show was as good as it used to be but i don't know it thats enough in 2009.

Thought it was fantastic... A time-warp extraordinaire!
With the exception of Wilbur (Obviously been in a good paddock), the rest of the crew looked amazingly like they'd stepped out of a time machine from10 years ago!
Hadn't aged a bit. (The Botox bill for Daz must be huge?)
The question being, If it rates this well for the 2nd one, will Nine be obligated to bring it back on a permanent type basis?... And could it possibly continue to pull the ratings, if it was brought back weekly??
Maybe a monthly 3 hr special so as not to kill the golden goose too quickly???
