Once, and on the journey back home I signed up with the RACV tow truck driver at a $30 discount, but never had to call them again "touch wood".

Lesson learnt: never neglect the one you drive.

3 times.
1. fuel pump dies, outta the blue.
2. Electrical, fusable link...mind you this happened in the buccan caves car park on a sat arvo, no mob reception and no shops open and only payphone was hammered.
3. Just the other day, blew heater hose comin home from geelong.

All covered by RACV, i certainly got my moneys worth, esp for number 2 that was a 300km tow. didn;t cost a thing, however i had to get to orbost somehow on the monday to go and get it.

I was so proud of my EA that it used to always get me home even if half dead, even when I finally killed it when shifting into 2nd instead of 4th and blowing apart the rockers, it still made it home, at 5km an hour with foot flat on the accelarator lol.

Never had it on a tow truck until I put the new engine in and had to tow it to the exhaust shop to weld a new cat in. Go the EA.

Just once when the starter motor litterally fell out of my EF. The jerk charged me $100 to tow 4 blocks and then another $20 to take me to an ATM because he didn't have eftpos...

3 for me.

1st, blew thermostat housing, it was just down the road from home, so i got it home, but i didnt know how to fix it.

2nd, at 2am in the morning, the side tank in my radiator blew...

3rd, after putting the AU motor in. It was overfuelling, and car dying now and then. we booked a tow truck, then it finally went, and then we got pulled over by cops, and it died, and we rebooked, and it went again, cancelled it, and then not far from Rollins house it stopped, and wouldnt go... finally on the tow truck!!!

The svo has never been on a tow truck! *touches wood*

My ed got towed once, but here comes the good bit.

When I first got my license I had an 88 na fairlane and it spent more time on the back of a tow truck than it did on the road.

2 fried wires, one busted auto, one seized thermostat and my favorite, being taken to the servo when it ran out of gas and wouldnt run on fuel! :thebirds:

Racv membership was worth it on that car..

Hey guys..

Mine has only been on the back of a load lugger once.. lol.. the tow truck guy wasn't real impressed when his winch started squeling and i told him the car might be slightly above the weight limit of 1500kgs.. lol.. two weeks prior she weighed 1900kgs.. Lol.. plus he complained the car was too low.. and the problem in the end??? a bung fuel pump.. had to rip the whole stereo out for it.. mongrel.. but i was impressed.. it was the original fuel pump..

Cheers
Nik

Ha, i bought my car off a Tow Truck! ^_^

My EA's head was stuffed on it, so it wasn't driveable and the license was due in a matter of days... i guess a blessing in disguise because it was cheap, and it allowed for an engine rebuild. That was almost a year ago and hasn't been any trouble at all since *touch wood*.

neither of my current cars have...yet... but my first car 3 times. the first time was 3 hours after i picked it up from the dealer (drive belt broke), second time was the fuel pump carking it. 3rd time a mate had borrowed it and ripped the rubber of a rim doing donuts, no spare, and didnt think to call me to use mine.
