I got another 92 Mustang from J-Case the other day!

I'm building up a little Mustang collection of my own in my cubicle at work now. Adds colour!

Dad went to a Kmart yesterday and saw they had a Pallet load of them on the shop floor and there of course was a bloke sifting through them. of course dad goes up and says "I know exactly what you're after... XB Coupe?" unfortunately the guy said there weren't any on the pallet.

Its ridiculous how hard people are trying (myself included) to get these damn things. I would love to know from hot wheels if there is this much demand or cult following for other cars they produce. somehow i doubt it.

my two which i went all the way to hawaii to get are still in their packets. I much prefer playing with my 1:1 scale version lol

Yeah I can't understand why the XB coupes are so popular, I did see one last night but it was in a three pack.

Interestingly enough an XB coupe goes for around $25-30 on ebay but I've seen Ghostbusters Ecto-1s go for around $7-10. I expected the Ecto-1s to be more collectable/rare.

yeah sucks doesn't it? My local stores all have a 50/50 mix of '09 and '10 stock. Freaking annoying as I keep finding cars I need for my '10 collection but they're '09 models.

I have rage.

No worries. If no one else wants it I may keep it and have one my son can play with, or should I say destroy, and one that stays in it's packaging.

I finally got me an XB!!!

Went to the Toy Fair yesterday and there was a guy with one, asked him how much, $10. I grabbed it. Interestingly enough there was another guy selling one at another stall after I grabbed it, and he wanted $25 for his!

So quick question if anyone can help me out. I grabbed a couple of cars from woolworths today and the packaging is different, it's a lot smaller. See below for comparison>

Would anyone know the reasoning behind this? I guess I'm just curios

One is called "Long Card" the other is "Short Card". People refer to these as either LC or SC versions.

Cars are exactly the same.

Not sure on the reasoning behind the two different "cards", however it may be something to do with available display space or something. Supermarkets & service stations tend to be all SC, department & toy stores tend to be all LC.

here to brag... ;)

looked everywhere over the weekend (its 2 of my sons birthdays also so we were in the toys aisles of every K-mart/Target/BigW/etc around town)...
went into about 8 different stores thru the weekend... only thing i could find was a 10-car multipack with the XB inside it...

Then - last resort... snuck in to our local Big W to pick up somethin for the Mrs that she wanted... and thought I may as well check the HotWheels rack (i'd been in the day before and searched the whole thing...)

To my SUPRISE... 2 x XB's!!!! Right next to each other on the bottom rh hooks... (there would have been easily 100 cars on the hooks - and these happened to be on the front, right next to each other)....

SNAP - They're mine!

So - sorry these are Keepers... (one for me - one for my kids to play with)...

BUT if I do find any more (and I will keep looking) then I will certainly update and see who's still chasing them...

PS - They do look super cool in real life!

Cheers,
Loftie

They would only be popular here, with such a long running iconic toy such as hotwheels cars, that we all loved and played to death with as kids, but only ever experiencing foreign models its a no brainer that the first Australian model made would be sooo popular also being a much loved car.
If they made a phase 3 they would be going for double.
If you check the US ebay you can get one for 3.50 or 8 for $10, i know US dollars but still.
It is easy to see why they are so popular because like uranium_death says they hold more sentimental value than rarety value.
Well just my take on the matter anyways

PS still looking!

Thought I would post my favourite Hotwheel. It was given to me at age 4 made in 1987. After all these years it is the one hotwheel I never played crash test with.

Does anyone remember the hot wheels you could crash and they would have the rotating damaged panels? They were awesome, yet another toy that was taken from us too soon lol

Keep looking guys, they are still out there. I found 2 (XB's) in K-mart Campbellfield yesterday. My son has almost wrecked his already and the other I GAVE to my mate who collects them. I will be on the look out for more and will give them away to anyone willing to pick them up from my place. Not interested in making money off them.

HAHAHA Yes I remember them, they were awesome!!!

All my toy cars from my childhood are in a container in a shed somewhere. I should dig them all out and see what I did used to have. On a related note, it sucks that The Incredible Crash Dummies seem to be no more :(

Didn't mention it before, but for the Gene Hunt fans, I got six red Audi Quattros at the same toy fair I got my XB. All hail the mighty Quattro!

Crack-ups, I believe they were called. There was also another series called Flip-Outs - they had a spring-loaded "flipper" underneath that would flip the car on impact. Good fun, those toys.

EDIT- Here they are:

This is the one I used to have as a kid:

I loved it coz as a kid I loved the movie "Condorman" and it reminded me of the car from that!

Edit - looks like images haven't worked but bugger it I'll leave it in case they decide to.
