I've always held the XR8 badge in high regard, and I don't get why people talk it down and make it sound cheap and nasty. Who cares if it's not a GT, of course it's not, no one from Ford said it was, the majority don't say they are and yet we have a bunch of chihuahuas barking mad about how it's "just" an XR8.

This XR8 will go down as probably the best Falcon ever made, if not only for outright performance but for sheer bang for your buck.

Yeap the whole GS saga was a complete waste of time and was never going to work.

They should have put the miami into the FG XR8 once the 5.4 was no more and left FPV with the GT and F6 only.

They made the GS to try and get some cash back, failed miserably, they would have been better going with volume rather than profit since the XR8 alwys had more relevance than a GS.

Hindsight huh.....

I ordered mine with a $500 deposit and is suppose to be one of the first made. I called up yesterday for a final price and was told 65k drive away which I thought was a bit steep. Has anyone else got a drive away price in wa for a auto with prestige paint?

I wonder if that was part of some agreement with pro drive around the Miami development. "we'll stop doing the xr and you can have some extra cream with the entry v8".

To be honest though the GS actually wasn't completely terrible value. Perhaps it just needed leather standard or something.

65 does sound steep kempy.

Yeah I can’t see the point of rubbishing any of them and those who get more serious than a bit of ribbing need to remember they are running down their own brand icons over a badge name.
I’m an oldie who still lives the Ford Falcon GT badge.
I never quite felt the same about the XR8 when it arrived.
I can say I had the same lack lustre approach to the FPV GT’s when they hit the streets.
Now the XR8 is back I still in my heart would have preferred Ford went out with the Falcon GT badge.
Still one thing I do know, they’re all good because during their allotted times they were the pinnacle of the Ford V8’s.
Why Ford has felt the need to change the badge name over the years beats me but the heart of the cars have always remained the same.
Thumps up to anyone who gets their hands on one of these new XR8's.

Jump onto ford.com.au and build the car with your postcode, that should give you the price you should pay, 65k is very steep, no one should pay much over 60, definitely nothing over 62 d/a unless you are adding accessories or car care products.

Hi, that price sounds sharp, dealer told me March, April next year delivery for auto XR8 in WA, I was probably not quick enough putting my hand up for one though.
Cheers Mick

So why is it $12K more expensive? I'd buy a 12 month old GT instead.

What an amazing bargain! No one would have complained about the value if the current XR8 specs were on a $20k more expensive GT, but given that there wasn't ever going to be a new GT, the XR8 becomes the beneficiary of what would otherwise be an HSV-killing FPV. We the public then get the chance to purchase a vehicle at low $50k which has the value of a $70k car. It sucks that there's no new FPVs, but the new XR8 is the very, very silver lining to the lack of any new FPV offering.

It doesn't matter how much it is, the next thing you can do is negotiate, your job is to buy the car at the price you're happy with, the salesmanship job is to make as much for his company as he can, tell him what you want, and stick to your guns, ie, throw in paint, mats, fuel and make it 57500 d/a and ill take it, be realistic as well though

Does every XR8 thread have to turn into a "it's not a GT" sheet fight. Seriously, if you own a GT accept that it's now dead and it's now old news, and the XR8 is now the performance flagship.

It's very existence does not make your GT any less special you clowns. Massive facepalm here. Just deal with it.

Could not agree more , just because it says xr8 does not make it useless, I love my GTE and I would not swap it for anything, but I agree that xr8 is gonna be an amazing car for the money, all the more fun as you pull up next to a GTS driver and realise you spent about 40 grand less to keep up with him.
For those in the know, is the exhaust different in these as I heard one go past me today and I'd swear its louder than my GTE

Fair comment, in stock form any GT or GTHO for that matter will be seeing 2015 XR8 tail lights, GTF and some R Spec models excluded.
The new XR8 is entitled to its new role of Fords best performance car.

Long live the V8 Falcon in any form as it wont be long before even the 2015 XR8 is old news and that will be the saddest day of all.

You will get a GT badge, but NOT R-Spec Suspension with 275 Rears, plus...plus...plus.

I would rather ditch the GT badge and have a quicker, more civilized new car.

And to get yourself into an RSPEC, you'll be looking at way more than this XR8 retails for. And it is 2 years old, has kms on the odo and that questionable colour scheme (too OTT for me to own, but I can appreciate it).

It's simple math for me - I get a GT RSPEC in a more modern shape that is more restrained on the exterior, at a much lower cost (new or current pricing).

You're right, but I could not give a dealer a $5K bonus over RRP for any car...it would be hard enough paying retail let alone more than retail.

I'm sure any 335 powered car would be very nice car to own.

Yep, doesn't sound right at all. I'm seeing $57-$58K for manual, $59-$60K for auto, driveaway, and some with free mats and a full tank (someone even got tinting, so that will be my angle).

The negotiating only stops when you buy the car, just tell them what you want and stick to your guns,

I advise mats, premium number plates, full tank of juice and tint, and be reasonable with how much discount your chasing, and the local dealer is the best one to do this with.

Write down what you want, commit to what you want and don't budge, get them to break down the costs as well, remember the rrp of the car, dealer delivery should be no more than 1900, and the rego costs should make up the rest, stick to your guns, and don't be afraid to say no to them
