EA 223612
EB 36374
EBII 84847
ED 72571
EF 192100
EL 133461

TOTAL: 742965 E-Series built!

Source: http://geocities.com/falconfacts/

I figured I'd better answer this question so that things can keep on going. Despite myself indulging in this, please don't break the rules peoples ;) Start a question when you're allowed to (ie when you've correctly answered the last one!)

Since I won't be checking up on this regularly, if you can prove your answer is correct by citing a source, then you get to ask the next question. I'm trying not to make this a google mission though.

Question: Apart from head gasket and build quality issues, name a particular defect that plagued some of the first EAs (having a 3 speed auto does NOT count as a defect, haha!)

nah I doubt rust was an issue, rust usually takes a little while to set in (rust can affect any car too... I'm after a particular "defect" issue that plagued some EAs FROM THE FACTORY).

I'm talking DEFECTS! Bwahahaha! Not mechanical specs!

OK an example: One particular problem was batteries overheating and exploding under the bonnet. What's another DEFECT problem such as this?

brake pedal staying to floor, metal panel holding door mountings flexing causing doors to rattle, faulty computer chip (most of these rectified before launch of ea falcon - falconfacts). also front suspension and poor paint

What was the main component difference (ie not cosmetic like paint, wheel options etc) between the EF and EFII Falcons?

Yep those extra 300meters for every hour made all the difference.. Perhaps they left the power antenna up during the testing on my page, made extra drag.

passenger side airbag introduced as option and standard on fairmont ghia. fairmont ghia also got xr6 engine, lowered suspension and uprated front springs, leather trim and extra chrome - in and out.

retuned suspension, different front seat padding to lower the ride height and 25mm extra rearward seat movement

Wind and road noise were isolated from the cabin by using neoprene rubber-based blockers. The XR6 wagon was dropped.

Falconfacts
