its tight between soccer and league but i chose league due to i watch more games but for me nothing beats the world cup of soccer. i dont mind afl but it looks like any drunk can play with the amount of fumbles and grabbing that goes on. im not a huge fan of union. the players are huge but it seems like there is alot of stopping and i cant stand it when they kick it out all the time....grid iron does not regester with me. you have to be blindly drunk to even endure such a boring game that last for like 3 or 4 hours. and they play with so much padding, its great when they pull off huge tackles though. hockeys alright but its not really in the same catorgoay as the others being all footballs

It scares me to think that a game like rugby (which I have nothing against) could get so close to such an awesome game like aussie rules.

I grew up in West London where Football is simply religion.
Every part of my life growing up was to do with Football, we used to play Football at every opportunity, before school, every break during the day and after school until we would lose the light. Every newspaper would be full of the latest goings on in the Football Leagues. True story.........I did not know that the sport of Rugby League even existed when I was growing up, I knew of Rugby to a small extent and obviously I had never ever heard of Aussie Rules. |

Aussie rules and English football.
I just dont understand the Rugby's and find them boring. First sport I ever played was soccer. Port Power and Man United

I can't sit though a game of aussie rules but it doesn't mean it has no skill. And if you feel a game's international popularity means anything to Australians, your cultural cringe is cringeworthy?? At the end of the day, consistent TV ratings are the key and AFL and Rugby League rule the roost. In fact, 93 of the top 100 shows this year on Fox were Rugby League games. And some of you have mentioned that Rugby League is not growing....laughable. **** Last edited by aualright; 09-01-2007 at 01:39 PM. |

Havn't been on the site for a while, and I come back to find this thread still going hard and strong! Long live League! Quote of Phil Gould: "Netball is a contact sport, League is a collision sport!" : Seriously though, Australia is the only country in the world as far as I know where their are 4 professional forms of football, something we should be celebrating, not killing each other over. And I better say hi to all the Soccer and AFL supporters I antagonised last year! :king:

I like all codes now actually. NRL, Union, AFL, Soccer
Im from Sydney and used to bag out AFL when i was younger. Then went to see a few Swans games and i was hooked. AFL is 100 times better to watch live than on tv. I always liked soccer [now Football post world cup lol] Its cool we live in Australia where we have a choice on what code of footy to watch. Or just yell at the TV like me and watch them all! |

The A leauge is only in its second year, its going ok.
plus the commercial stations have a vested interest in AFL and NRL, so they dont cover soccer as much as they should, and if they do its only the Pommy leauge - frustrating. |

If I was going to take up being a dedicated Football supporter, it wouldn't be any of those.
American Football!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about hard hitting, and they still get bad injuries even with all of that padding, and protective gear. I just find it more interesting. Last edited by Ryan; 02-09-2007 at 01:04 PM. |

League & Union equal. Nothing else really matters.
Unless you can represent your country, its a park game.
