G'day all,

My name is Greg, I'm 50 years young and I live near Toowoomba, Queensland.

I've owned many fords over the years and currently own a 1999 Ford courier trayback ute and have just picked up 2 1989 and 1990 Capri convertibles.

The first Capri was purchased off ebay for $630 and was going to be an experiment for my son and I to attempt a conversion to electric, but was in such good condition that we decided to keep it for his first car.

This needed some parts, so we swaped an old Diahatsu scat from the back yard for another red 1990 Capri for zero dollars.

This second red capri has damage in the front end and the rear bumper was missing and the windscreen is a mess but it had all the parts needed for my sons Capri so it looks like this red one will be the electric.

I have seen pics of a club sprint style front and rear bumper and this will be our direction for the red electric conversion.

Club sprint front end.jpgClub sprint rear.jpg

I have been in contact with a mob in Sydney that makes these but they charge $550 for the front and $850 for the rear unpainted or primed.

I have also found a wreckers on the sunny coast but he wants $550 each.

I have done some fiberglass work over the years so if anyone has a club sprint front and rear bumper they are willing to lend me, I could copy this and offer an extra one to the supplier as payment.

This may branch into guards and other body parts.

So that is our story. I look forward to hearing from other Capri owners and may even be interested in starting up a Convertible owners group in the Toowoomba area for shows, weekend drives etc or just to swap parts and help each other out so if anyone is interested drop me a line.

Chat soon

Greg

Hey Hey all you Fantastically Original Reliable Dedicants!!!!!!!!
My name is Dan (Better known as Astrofairlane). An avid Ford lover for life. I have been a member for a long time, but first time poster. I have enjoyed this site and all the incredible info and advice. Now no one is alowed to laugh but my dream car at the age of 16 was the Ford Fairlaine zk 82. And after five years of arduous searching I finally found one that was orginal, low k's, the right colour and an absolute dream to drive. Ah the memories. Now has new paint in keeping with the original scheme, all electrics in working order, after scouring wreckers and spending plenty of time lying under wrecks that would have probably fallen on me with the slightest gust of wind. All orginal velour interior and yes the pioneer tape/stereo still works!!!!!!!!! Love the old fella cruising on the highway, despite the hum doing 100kphr with a tri speed auto. I am now looking at changing the rego to the Special interest Vehicle rego. Any suggestions, and which car club to become financial with in order to qualify. Any help would be fantastic. Happy to post Pics. Just give me a bit of time as my computer savvyness is not the best. Cheers all. Cant wait to get on board and chat. Thanks in advance.

Hey all,

Recently purchased a 2009 FG falcon XR6 N/A, Ego grey, tinted windows, plus a few other extras. Love the car, heaps of grunt but also nice smooth family, best of both worlds.
Just purchased a Herrod CAI kit and will fit it when it gets to NZ from Ausy. Looking forward to fitting it and seeing if there is much of a difference.
Needs new tyres soon, not sure what to get, any ideas?

Hi all,
Up in brissy, just learning all i can about xw's, my 14 year old son and i will need a few years for this resto. Just a plain jane 3.6 three on the tree, factory blue with white roof. Not sure what the blue is as most color codes i can find dribble on only about gts colours. Needs rad support, front floor pans, work on front cross members, stoved in front passenger door & worst of all it has a bad rear rhs 1/4. Yep sounds silly but the price was ok and as my son said, if you wait any longer i will never be able to afford an xw or xy sedan 6 cylinder let alone anything with a v8. So bluey is to be saved, she still looks pretty cool.

Hey guys,

I own a 2011 ZD Escape and hail from Sydney. I came across this site whilst researching about driving lights. Its great to see an Australian Ford forum (as most others are US based). Look forward to chatting to fellow Ford and Escape fans. Cheers.

Hi Guys,

I've finally got time to spend on my XB coupe. I know a few guys here on the forum but won't know their handles till they start having a crack at me!

Here's a pic of my coupe as of about a year or so ago, dressed up as an XC Cobra. Since then it's been under a car cover under carpet in the garage holding stuff off the floor like power tools and junk. Now I've finally got some time I'm returning it to an XB along with a fresh coat of paint.

I've joined the forums to see other builds and hopefully learn a bit about body work before I wreck what I've got. I'm lucky that I have a really solid car - bought it in 2002 before the coupes skyrocketed in price for a song.

Yes I'm going to have a crack at doing it myself - the worst case scenario is I pay someone lots of money to hit the car with a bead blaster and start again from scratch!

Hi there all, new guy here from Melbourne. Happy new owner of a 2001 AUII XR8 220, leather interior, sunroof, premium sound. Hoping to get some help with a couple niggling annoyances and just enjoy the community. I'm a bit lax with checking forums, only one I manage to be consistent on is netrider. Anyway, there's my intro

Hello fella's,my 1st post.My granddaughter has just purchased a 2010 Ford Focus and loves it. Has only has 20000km on the clock. She parked it at her work yersterday and when she got back in to go the selector would'nt come out of park.Being under warranty she rang the ford dealer and she was asked to check for stop operation which was fine. Then was told to pick open the lid of the small box next to the "t" bar and push down the button to release the Park. Then was told it is a common problem and to book in for repair.Being a old school retired Motor Mechanic i'm interested the purpose of this device. Is it a child safety, accident safety lock or what ?Any light on it's purpose ? thank you

The selector lever shift lock solenoid is located in the selector lever bracket. When the ignition is switched on, the selector lever shift lock solenoid is actuated by depressing the brake pedal (signal from the stoplamp switch). This retracts the locking pin so that the selector lever
can be moved out of position "P" (PARK).

Function
– NOTE: If "P" (PARK) is selected again the selector lever is locked.
If the brake signal should fail due to a malfunction, the selector lever can be manually unlocked as follows:

Cheers
Russ

Hey all!

I decided to sign up here to get some hints and tips on everything Ford.
I have previously been a Holden fan but have recently been converted by my Mums partner who has a couple of amazing FPV machines (in the picture below hopefully if I do it right).

G'day all,
I recently bought a AUII xr6 at auction pretty cheap, only to find (a few weeks later)_ what appears to be Glenn Setons signature under the left side sun visor & I'm trying to contact him to authenticate/veto it & since it's in pretty good nick & has lots of factory goodies, I'm going to try to tidy it up. been cruzing the forums looking for tutorials on handbreake adjustment, interior mirror removal, ect... & got tired of not beeen allowed to view threads. So here I am

Evening all,
I'm a new member from the little state of Tas,
I am a long time supporter of the blue oval and have just purchased a 1977 gl 4 door Escort.
Just wondering if anyone has any info on South African built Escorts and if they know of any in Aus?
