Default Do you use the double unlock feature?

I'm so used to the double unlock feature on my Mitsubishi Verada that I've enabled it on both our LS and LT Foci.

For those who don't know, double unlock only unlocks the driver's door when you press the unlock button on the remote. If you press the unlock button again within 2 or 3 seconds it unlocks the remaining doors.

Do you use the double unlock feature?

I voted no - I don't see the reason for having the press the unlock button twice for 2 people to get in the car...for those who do use this feature, how many times has this feature stopped an unwanted visitor jumping in your passenger seat?

Don't know as they wouldn't have had the chance to jump into the car due to the doors being locked :P

That'll get you into trouble in certain parts of the city if you catch my drift.

But i too don't use it. My car only has two doors so it hardly seems worth it.

Is there a way to get the doors to lock themselves once the car starts moving? I've seen this on a few Euro cars wondering if the Focus has the same feature?

I heard over on the xr5 forums that there might be... I don't know on what models and how to set it up though.

The Mondeo does, so it should also be possible on a Focus. But you have to get your dealer to programme it for you.

"oh , im in park, and i cant be bothered lifting a finger to unlock the door...:"

That is the Global Opening feature, if your car doesn't have electric windows front and rear then you can forget that option, supposed to make your car cooler before you get into it or some crap.... just another unfunctional marketing gimmick to make you waste more money, the rear passengers can just wind them up and down.

Standard on the TDi and use it all the time. Also good if you have forgotten to wind your window/s up. Saves unlocking car, putting key in ignition, turning on and then closing window/s.

Set it before you get out on a hot day. Then come back and Global Open, it'll pump out the hot air while cooling the air con. Admitedly the Focus aircon takes FOREVER to cool down, but it still helps.

Does anyone know how to auto-loc the doors on LS/LT Focus? I could on my LR and really miss it.

Just saw this post and it couldn't be further from the truth. It's such a handy feature, for cooling the car down on hot days. Also helps when you leave a window down. Also integrates into sunroof when one is fitted. It's a very useable feature.

Just another one of those bells and whistles I don't want or need. It's too much of a pain pressing a button becasue the car can't sence its owner approah and unlock all by itself. lol

Seriosly. I think the extra security is good and even better the fact it is optional, however if you often have other people in your car then it can be a pain.

I love the global open/close.

Wouldn't be too keen to have one of those proximity sensor things after seeing what the boys on Top Gear did. Hamster was driving a car with it, Jeremy got into it, and drove it away while Hammond was eating in a restaurant. Jeremy didn't have the key, and the range of the sensor was pretty generous.

Yes there is, but not here. In Canada we had remote car starters available from the aftermarket. Before anyone starts to spout off about lazy Canadians, etc when you've lived in -30 weather, then you can talk. : ;P

The Focus (both LR & LS/T/V) also has the drive away locking feature available on all petrol models but it needs to be enabled by the Ford Dealer Diagnostic Test Tool .
