Ford Built Tough

Remember the Built tough slogan ford used. Well it seems true. My mums EL wagon was hit on the very right corner of her rear bumper. All it has done is crack the light, scrape some paint and knock the bumper, not even knock it off. The VE SS that hit her on the other hand was towed away. The bonnet was up at the windscreen, the cops were called because there was more than $4000 damage, she is blaming mum but I won't go into that crap. So fords built tough slogan is true in this instance.

Once upon a time they were my first accident is also testiment to this. Driving on a wet day in my xf pano and a hyundai excel slammed on the brakes stopping unexpectedly i thought i had plenty of room to stop but i just aquaplained(gathering speed ) till i hit its rear . When i selected reverse to remove my self from its rear my eyes nearly fell out of my head , it was destroyed you could not tell what it was i had also managed to push its rear axle to the front of the car . When the German tourist got out of the his hire car looked at me and smiled he then walk to the rear of the excel through his arms in the air and said quite a few things which i assumed weren't friendly but German is a language unknown to me .
I got out looked at mine had about a two inch scratch on my unpainted plastic bumper . I was stoked although still my fault and paid my insurance company to reimburse the hire company because the excel was no more a complete write off.

Cant say the same for my ba xr8 though 2 months old a fella back into the side not real hard either but it needed a new front quarter panel new door and the little panel at the back of the ute cab , my ute just closed up like a one of those chinese fans .

ill agree with you about the BA XR8, i was surprised that a colorbond fence was able to write mine off at low speeds

love it !!!!
we hit a cow head on 3 years ago in our 4x4 courier (did have bullbar),trailer swung around jack knifed into rear of ute ,we went off road sideways into dip on the side of road trailer imbedded into back of ute
1 dead cow ,1 nearly dead ute and trailer, we walked away not even a scratch

Ford need to reintroduce this slogan for their LCV's. Take the fight to the "unbreakable" hilux.

I watched a five car pile up in Brisbane a few years ago Hilux ute, LH Torana, XD spak, VH Commodore,& a Corolla in that order. The Corolla driven by a little old lady (which was not hurt) did not even try to brake as she careered straight into the back of the Commodore, every car apart from the Hilux & the XD was a total write off as all had squashed in fronts & rears how ever the XD was like iron as they towed others away. It was in the middle with a broken headlight protector & a broken taillight, I honestly could not see a scratch on it any where there were a few shaking their heads...Who build em tough? Ford of course.

There has not been a Ranger commercial in years, quite possible a decade or more. I would imagine the "Built Ford Tough" logo, the square block dropped at the end of the above video, is used in any print ads for the Ranger.

How do you get a colourbond fence traveling at low speeds? Mines quite fixed in place.

Back in 03' I had a Hilux 4x2 slam into the back of me at a set of lights. I waited for the light to turn green so I could pull into the service lane. As I've taken off I've seen the caved in front in my rear view mirror and expected the worst. I stopped, got out and the EA had a dint under the left taillight, a small chip in the bootlid and the bumper was pushed down a couple of cm. End result: Cost to Hilux: $8500, cost to EA: $900. It's certainly tough!

Now that is impressive. I know that the moving object colliding with the stationary object generally fares worse, but still. The EA has now suprised me in a good way

I never got a photo of the Hilux but my towbar went through his radiator, his FR guard was pushed up against the door, bonnet and bumper were stuffed. The EA... well... this was it.

The Ford badge had previously come off, and I got a new bumper out of the incident so I was happy!

The one he is referring to was travelling, after he had hit it

I also like how that add kept referring it to a truck, because it pretty much is, put a fifth wheel on it and off you go.

I loved the add a couple of years back when the f150 pulls a road train out of a bog, also back in the 80,s i remember an f,ee going up a steep rocky hill with a landcruiser strapped sideways across the tray, and some of the courier adds as well.
