Default Engine conversion workshops in WA.

Does anybody know any workshops in WA that can do GOOD engine conversions?

The car is my 83 500SEC Mercedes.

I'm thinking LS1 or similar power engine in place of its stock 5.0 v8. I want it powerful, reliable and fairly unique.

I have around 10k all up to play with.

Any ideas who to call and talk to or which workshops to visit? Or any advice?

Cheers guys

well first up you would need to see if anybody makes a bell housing to suite that type of conversion cause i doubt the merc gearbox and Chev engine are going to join up without one.

wouldn't hurt to call around the Proformance type workshops, even try some of the site sponsors for advice.

Or you could replace the merc gearbox with the one attached to the LS1 if it isnt too big.

Im pretty sure the swap has been done before. A google search might help. I know there are quite a few jag chev swaps around so maybe there is a kit or something like those ones. Have a look at the rod shop site. They may have something.

And for 10k you might be better off doing it yourself? The ls1's are still a few grand plus a few more if you want to do heads/cam and a tune.

Would be a fun project thats for sure. Hear a big beefy v8 and see an old merc go past. would confuse alot of ricers!

You will get the running gear for under $10,000- fitting and converting will cost some more. budget may be around 15,000 +

Your budget i sway off this kind of thing engine ,gbox and wiring will hit the 10k alone and that is without any labour and a couple of grand worth of problems that are going to come up .
