Default Fords new deal for employees friends...

Team,
Over the past few months I have received suggestions, enquiries and requests from many Ford Australia employees on how they can assist Ford's progress in the drive to increase sales, and in particular how, if it was possible, the Company could provide an opportunity for all employees to be ambassadors (or advocates) for the Company, which would enable them to provide their friends a special purchase price on selected Ford products.

I am very pleased to announce that the following offer will be provided to all Ford Employees, Ford Contractors, and Retirees:

· Special discounted pricing for two of your friends#, plus $500 (Incl. GST) worth of Genuine Ford or Supplier Branded Accessories absolutely free!^
· Ford Contractors* are also eligible for an additional two personal purchases
· Eligible vehicles:
· All 2007 or 2008 plate vehicles
· 2009 plate SY Territory
· 2009 plate FG Falcon Sedan / Ute (up to & including April build)
· 2009 plate SY Territory MkII (up to & including May build)
· Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) are not included in this Program
· Offer only available through Southern Region Ford Dealer
· Eligible vehicles must be ordered & delivered between May 1 - June 30, 2009
· No Reportable Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)#

What do you need to do?
· Use the attached information to let your friends know about the great deals available
· Obtain a Ford Friends Purchase Authority Form from your HR Representative
· Complete the form and have it signed by your HR Representative
· Provide your friend with the approved form, which they should present to a Ford Dealer at the time of purchase

Ensure you take advantage of this amazing opportunity to offer your friends the mates' rates they've been asking you for!

Regards,

Marin Burela

^Excluding fitment.
#Please note that as a result of the FBT treatment of the program, relatives of employees/retirees/Ford contractors are not eligible to participate.

*Contractors who were former Ford employees will not be eligible to purchase personal vehicles.

You would think there needs to be somthing in it for them . But also ther could be a few other benefits from increase sales.
-keep employee's in jobs
-part sales for future
-Get some cars out for word of mouth
-Get dealers work through service
-Help suppliers out
-Clear up excess stock

I have no idea how many employee's ford has but at a guess 3k so that could possibly be 3 thousand cars that you make no money off . My guess is there is a couple thousand left in them

from what i was told each employee gets their own discount and 2 for friends plus the normal family discount

so that would be 9000 cars out there to get the word out

i say bloody great effort from ford au

the best sales pitch for any product is word of mouth

It is interesting to note that almost all the discounted falcons are manual transmission.

A mate of mines girlfriend works at one our local larger Ford dealerships, he emailed me the list of the cars they we're doing at really good prices, a bit cheaper then those prices listed.

Auto XR6 $27k
RWD TX Territory $35k
TDCI Focus Hatch $20k

& the employee gets a $200 spotters fee.

22% is the empoyee discount, plus the bonuses that they also have on the sale. It's a ripper deal. A mate gave me the offer the other day, but I got too many other causes for spending at the moment to tip into a car as well.

It's not a bad idea from Ford, while profit margins are low, they are keeping numbers (hopefully) moving, keeping the workers in jobs and suppliers going as well hopefully until the low sales situation recovers. It probably doesn't put as larger dent on resale values over a blanket discount across the range if they are sold at employee pricing either.

You can specify Auto Transmission, that just comes at the standard extra cost.

Cheers.

This sounds like a variant of what Holden did in November last year. Holden had to clear "x" amount of vehicles and did some crazy prices (eg SS manual ute for $33990 drive away, sedans $39990). The difference is that Holden offered this deal to everyone.

Might not be too much margin left in the vehicles but if they move that number of cars it is a huge cash injection for Ford.

I assume the prices quoted are +ORC?

Yes, se real bargains to be had in that offer. I was with a Ford Partner in another life and our pricing wasn't this good - this is one to get on in a hurry if you are in the market.

I think the options are actually at privilege club cost i.e. ford employee option cost.

I'd sign up for one tomorrow if I knew a Ford employee.

Any Ford employee wanna make an easy $1000?

wow.. thats a massive discount.. and a top idea from ford... it allows an increase in sales.. but not too many which could inevitable hurt resale if the market is flooded with a bunch of cheaper cost cars... and as was mentioned earlier... the power of word of mouth...

Is this for real? I am looking at a new car and the minister of finances wants a Mazda 6 wagon which is ~$40k, but if I can get an XR6 for ~$29 + on roads or XR6T for ~$35 + on roads, I might have to do some negotiating with her.

So would that make it about $32 on road for an XR6 sedan? Anyone need a friend?

Im sure if you went to a dealership and bought this up they would quickly become your 'friend' for the duration of the sale

Brilliant idea. Sure it will depress the second hand market a tad but it is for the good of the company

Kudos to Ford Australia. All for it!

Ford Dealer staff can get their own if they want, and their families.
