True it will leave a hole in drag racing, especially top bike and some meeting he had 4 runners.

From the JD website........

Keeping up with JackDaniel's Racing
Jack Daniel's Congratulates Drag Racing Champion Brett Stevens On A Wonderful Career

Brown Forman, owner of the Jack Daniel’s trademark, would like to congratulate Brett ‘the Boss’ Stevens on a stellar career following his recent retirement announcement.

In a partnership spanning more than 15 years, Jack Daniel’s has seen its association with Brett grow from supporting a single Jack Daniel’s Top Bike entry to a multi-car and bike Jack Daniel’s Top Doorslammer and Top Bike team.

In that time, Jack Daniel’s has been privileged to share in Brett’s many successes, including both Top Doorslammer and Top Bike Australian Drag Racing Championships, many national event victories, and numerous national and international records.

Brett’s focus on building the Jack Daniel’s trademark off-track has also been greatly appreciated and made him a true ambassador of the Jack Daniel’s brand.

His invaluable support and ‘can do’ attitude over the years made Brett an asset to our company and true champion to his fans.

As a mark of respect to a person who has retired at the top of their sport, Jack Daniel’s will not be pursuing any further drag racing sponsorships and we look forward to watching the sport from the sidelines.

Finally, we would like to sincerely thank Brett for his contribution to the success of the Jack Daniel’s brand and wish him continued success in his retirement from
professional drag racing.

there is a lot more to just a retirement.......a lot of people around drag racing ( including myself, i crew for a S/C outlaws car) will tell you that. i know a lot of things that went on internally to do with JDR that a lot dont, and that i wont repeat. a good mate of mine who i went to school with, the former speedway racer, todd waddell, got the contract to drive the mack trucks entry, and i still keep in touch with him

i reckon he was on a last chance from andra too, and punching the jack daniels rep was the last straw. he's done a hell of a lot of stupid things over the years

only got himself to blame. i dont know where the "awesome bloke" and "legend bloke" comments come from, because he's a massive tool when it comes to a lot of things. if he didnt punch the guy, he'd still be racing

Pretty sure there is more to it than that. Mr Stevens might be looking at a few years away on a permanent holiday.

The worse thing about all this, is there are no Ford bodied cars in T/D.

He doesn't say the $10,000 was in the money box. Theres 5 items he lists.

Quote:
approximately ten thousand dollars which was from my daughters Skye’s money box, the cash floats from our merchandise trolleys, merchandise that my wife Kath had sold on e-bay, one days banking from our business and some money that Kath and her family had put aside for her brothers head stone on his grave.

He never said anything about not being involved, or anything why they removed all his drag racing cars.

i heard that aside from the money they found at his place, he had "affiliations" with ppl who had been raided over the previous few weeks, one of which i'd say grassed him bigtime. He was linked to several pill presses also. I believe thats why JD withdrew sponsorship.

Thats crap if they can sell your property with no conviction let alone sell them before trial. Wonder how the government will spend their dirty money, watch for bonuses or pay rise in parliment next time they sit.

Makes good sense for all concerned imo. My guess is the fact that the Govt is trying to maintain the value by converting it to cash suggests he is in for a very long and thorough rogering.

They'll sell them for 1/3 their value and then sue for the difference, chances are he'll get the money if hes found not guilty as ive seen it happen on a number of occasions.

Why would they sue for the difference? The difference in what?

Wonder why he didnt appose the sale, the government wont get the true value of his assets at auction, if hes found not guilty or aquited would he be able to sue for their true or replacement value. He must be in some pretty deep crap.

Well, if they sold your pride and joy, say a gt xa coupe worth $80,000 for $20,000, theres no way youll ever replace it for twenty so youll have to sue the gov for the rest and if you dont win youll loose even more in court costs. In his case it will cost alot more to build new cars to race again and all the parts etc than keeping his existing stock. Maybe he is confident he'll get off and do the government for more money than their worth and not have to go through the pain of selling them himself. Big risk though i think.
