Hi People
Any ideas ??? Trying to save some $$ before I take it to the shop?? My EF (6cyl) auto thuds between each gear, can not hear any slips in the gears though. There is a slight wind in top gear when driving on the highway, place it in nutural at 100km's and the wind goes away? Any ideas. |

don't have a clue and I work on gear boxes?
When was it last serviced?

oh ok I say go get it serviced and if it persits might be looking at rebuild or T5 conversion
 Explain these symptoms to an transmisson mechanic

Are you sure there is adequate fluid.. and the right viscosity??? If you bought it second hand prob worth draining fluid and replacing.. i know you only just put fluid in but trust me.. all sorts of crap builds up in there..

by the looks of the car, i say it could be shift kitted maybe, the car has no stereo, probably because a young lad had a expensive one in it, the car looks lowered quite a bit, theres an okley sticker on the back window (unless you put it there) tell tale signs of a young owner.

OK now I really do look dumb...and shift kitted is and how do I know??
I assume you mean replace a chip or cogs in the box do allow faster gear changes?? |

a shift kit can be internal work or an electronic shift kit, to firm the shifts up, and i dunno how you can tell.

I had a clunk from first to second gear in my gearbox. Cant remember exactly what the problem was but it was a few probs.
I also tried to do it on the cheap. Your better off getting it done properly. Mine ended up costing me $2400 with a new casing and all. Very expensive!!

Id say it the solenoid. mine was bad got the solenoid done and serviced $380 all fixed now sweet as
