Default queries about 87 kc laser and please help

hi i'm new to this site and may have missed information somewhere on this site but i'll ask any how i own a little 5 door kc laser 1.6 litre 87 model it's a good little car and is generally trouble free recently i have noticed thier is alot of vibration it's mainly when the car is stationary or in park, when you take of it's ok once you stop it starts to vibrate, does any body know what could be causing this? and what is the easiest way to fix it? i also have a small ellectrical problem going on, when the brake is applied, on the dash the brake and battery lights come on (together) i've got very spongy brakes and have identified thier is an air leak which i'm getting around to fixing but the dash problem has any one had this with there laser? and if so what is the problem, how is it fixed? i also noticed that during driving thier is a deep noise inside the cabin it's definately coming from the wheels could it be the wheel bearings perhaps? need lube or replacement? it's like a humming noise really starting to bug me, so if you know what these might be or have similar experiences please help me i would appreciate it very much.

as for your vibration it just sounds like your idleing a bit rough. My KC laser vibrates at idle when its cold in the morning. nothing a timing light and a multi meter cant fix

Regarding vibration; could it be something so simple as the RPM being too low while stationary/park? If not, perhaps check out your engine mounts. A lot of people forget about them and they get worse as time goes on. Especially the front mount in our case.

in question box type in how to time a ford laser

timing can be done with a timing light ..
the timing is adjusted by undoing the distributor holding nuts and moving that till the light shows up on the mark on the timing pully(biggest pully where the belt runs off ) and the timing mark on the timing cover to suit the specs of your engine

use muti meter and read the voltage increase between + and - on the battery
rev engine..if votlage increases above 13.5 volts thats good ...... if not thats bad
alternator
no need to .......by your description the alternator bearings need attention as well so you may need to get an exchange alt from an auto electrician ,,dont know if super cheap have one .

have a look on ebay alternators they sell them there

if the regulator is exterior it is only held on with two screws and the most you would have to do is unbolt the alternator

show you my link for a magna alternator with proceedure might be the same
undo the alternator belt then undo the bolts holding the alternator to the engine

page one halfway down how to do section tm-tp

if the second belt looks ripped up it needs to be replaced when you can afford it

some people just leave the belt on till it breaks
some poeple just cut the belt off and fit one at the next service

the car will function if you are sure that ripped up belt only runs the aircondioning
