Default Fiesta Ambiente - A few questions

Hey all,

When buying the Ambiente i always knew i would be changing the wheels to alloys. Does anyone know what type of alloy will fit the new Fiesta?
What size should i go up to and where is the best place to buy them from?
(I live in Brisbane)

I wanted to purchase the Trend but due to an offers on the Ambiente i couldn't turn down i'm now looking into adding the Trend options.

I've had a look on the "Sales" section of this site for Zetec alloys so if anyone is selling them and they fit the new Fiesta please PM me.

Thanks in advance
Younge

they are 4x100 PCD and factory Zetec alloys are soft so prone to buckling, only WT wheels will fit too as WS are 4x108 PCD.
I have 17x7.5 with 205/40r17 tyres and they fit nice but are slightly taller than the 185/55r15's that were stock, so the car felt slower and the speedo is slightly more accurate now but still reads under.
don't skimp too much on tyres as my car is very taily in the wet with achillies ATR sport tyres but its fun, next time i'll get a softer budget tyre like kumho KU31's, 15,000km on the ATR's and still look new

Factory WS alloys are soft.
Not WT.
So WT Zetec alloys should be fine.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy some alloys from which are 4x100pcd?

I'm in no rush to upgrade them as the standard ones need to be worn down.

I was thinking about buying some mud flaps and others accessories. Has anyone tried fitting mudflaps and any suggestions on where to buy?

i want to try avoid dealerships as they are charging way to much.

i got mudlfaps from china off aliexpress for $10 delivered, rears just pop into the factory plugs but had to drill 1 hole each side at the front. saved the car from cow poo when running over cattle crossings.
as for wheels try taleb tyres they have some black/silver 17's on special for $350 plus tyres
http://www.talebtyres.com.au/product...=&part_no=1404
as for tyres i like kumho KU31's
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-205-4...d52909c&_uhb=1
so including fitting and deliver you can have a set for under $1000
or try bobjane and barter them down
go for a decent tyre the fiesta is pretty stiff and need decent tyres otherwise it slides everywhere

when looking for wheels, can i ask what does the 4x100 PCD mean?
Back in England i've only taken into consideration the alloy size and tyre you want.

I just wanted to know what to look out for before buying a tyre.

Thanks again

its pitch circle diameter, so if you draw a circle around the centre of the wheel nuts its 100mm dia. but on euro cars its usually 4x108mm dia.
most new jap/asian cars are 4x100mm so very common here and easy to find decent wheels

they will be 4x100mm as its made in thailand only the ST has a 4x108 as its made in germany but any wheel retailer will know this and help you.
i have 17x7.5 with 205/40r17 and they look good, 18's are too big, 16's cost the same as 17's due to not being as popular and so may aswell buy 17's

Very nice mate.
I'm trying to find some alloys wheels that suit the new fiesta. I have a 5 door white.
Any suggestions? I've always purchased black cars but wanted to try something new.

Can anyone suggest where to get some seat covers from? i'm against them but due to going to the beach so much i need to invest in some.

i got $40 seat covers from repco but they don't fit the best and look crap, you can get custom made ones (google it) but they will be $150 for fronts only
i got seat covers as the cloth marked up real easy

as for rims you have to get what you like we all have different tastes...i get told all the time black rims look crap but i like them

Got a gripe with the car!
When the windows are down and i turn the ignition off why can't i do up the windows? is this normal?

Also, My old Vauxhall used to let me do up the windows by holding down the lock key and to unwind the window hold down the open key.

Does any one know if this is possible?

Why do people get seat covers for new cars? At best it costs them a lot, at worst they get some ill fitting uncomfortable junk. All that to possibly get better resell value? Why not enjoy your new car rather than saving it for some future owner who may not even care if the seats are a little worn.

Most seats last a long time anyway and a quick clean is all that's needed.

Yeah it's normal for the fiesta. It'll be nice to be able to just do up the windows once with the ignition off. I almost always fall for it.

I'm sure it can be easily rewired though if you really want it.

i put my lunch on the passenger seats and on the rare occasion it has leaked and ruined the fabric, so seat covers are the first line of defence
i plan on selling the car very soon so i'd rather nice clean trim to help sell it.
its the first car i have put seat covers on too

Look I don't want to argue but you're better off putting a plastic bag down under your lunch instead of an ugly/expensive seat cover which may not even protect the seat from liquids seeping in anyway.
Each to their own.

haha yeah but $40 for seat covers is ok plus i can remove them anytime, i am going to get beaded seat covers for my VH would you hate on them too? my reasoning for them is that its period correct, it keeps my **** off the vinyl trim on super hot days, and i haven't seen a set actually fitted to a car in 20 years (last saw on XF falcon taxi's)

Seat covers also can be removed and washed every now and again...

After 10 years you don't really want to know what the Festiva drivers seat smelt like... I sweat badly even thinking about doing manual work....

So i've done some research into the Windows still having power after you turn the ignition off.

The answer is a feature disabled on most cars
"Accessory delay"
I found it in the manual and done some googleing online.

In my old Vauxhall i bought an adapter online and plugged it into the car and changed this feature plus many more.

Does anyone know if this is possible for the Ford?

I also changed the feature like how long the lights stayed on for when i locked the door.

I'm sure it may be as simple as plugging in a computer or fuse.

Regarding seat covers, i had the same opinion of enjoying the car but my other half being a female is really messy! She is the one who suggested the seat covers. I just wish they were a little cheaper!

May have to purchase some from the UK and ship them over, if i do, i'll offer everyone on here in case i bulk buy a few.

Also,
Question for you. Should i wear in the new engine?
When i asked this question the guy said all new engines are worn in already and they are good to go. I haven't gone anywhere near the red line and probably won't for a long time. Is there any official information online that can confirm this?

these days you don't need to wear it in as such, it would written in the manual if you had to do it, just drive how you would normally drive

Spoken to two dealerships.
Only the premium FOCUS models have this feature.

Fiesta won't alloy you to close windows unless the ignition is turned on.

Both features are standard on the UK models and it seems the service departments didn't want to think out side of the box and make it possible.

So the feature is there, just got to work out who knows how to do it.

meh... big shame... such a gripe for a lovely car.

Thanks for trying
I'm sure there will be some one out there who will know how to do it.
I'm emailing my friends from England asking if they have had any luck.

On a side note, does anyone know any cool hidden features like when you turn the ignition of if you press the full beam on an Opel/Vauxhall it leaves the lights on for 1 minute? most be some cool features like that.

When I got my WS Fiesta in 2009 the first thing we did was thrash the F out of it up and over Mt Macedon and she hasn't got any problems, so go for it

When i change my alloys from 15 to 17 do i have to take it into Ford for them to change the ecu? I know changing the alloys will affect the speedo.
