Default To Azzuro or Not to Azzuro

I need new tyres on the AU, but i've seen a set of Azzuro's come up for sale for what seems like a good price.

But i cant decide if i like the look or not. Cleaning is not an issue.

tell me your thoughts.

the reason i am torn is, with the black wheels they blend in with the car, which means you look at the whole car.

with the azzuros they stand out like nothing else and draw your focus. I dunno!

+ 1 Azzuro's also. Great looking wheels. you could also paint the Azzuro's black or a darker grey

Not questioning your tastes HLC, but Tickford 5 spokes look tacky to me when black. Azzuros will always suit every AU. But its your car mate

Nope, don't like them and never have, but that's my opinion and no one else, I have never been a fan of multi spoke rim's.
I love the original Tickford's that you allready have, just not Black.

Your torn because thats how you see it - you like the black wheel look.
Whereas others see this differently Henri - up to you your car but to me Azzuros look 1,000 % in the right direction

Fair point, but i dont reckon they stick out, they suit it perfectly,
20" chromies would draw the focus, but these look great

Might have to change your lights as well, back to chrome. That might break up the car and tie in the azzuros.

Henri,

Of those two choices, I'd personally go the Azzuros for sure.

If your Tickford 5 spokers were silver though, then I'd be torn. Whilst they're black however it's the Azzuros FTW!

nothing beats your rims in original colour...

do what makes you happy, not what appeases the forum...

considering your car looks decent as is, and azzuros are purely marginal gain (somewhat an overrated rim purely because of its "T essence"), i would personally put the money into perfomance (power/braking/handling).

I think the Azzuros are possibly the most hideous wheel Ford ever released, perhaps adding another meaning to the word 'gay'.

The 5 spokes you have now are much much nicer IMO, even in black.

The 18" 5 spoke TS wheels are maybe the best looking wheels Ford released IMO.

Not a fan of the Azzuro's either ... I think the 5-spoke XR rims now suit the vehicle much better.

Either wheel is Ok, I like both, but the 5 spokes in black do nothing for your car, especially because its a dark colour. I prefer the original look.

You might be happier with a wheel that is not all alloy/silver colour. A combo of black & chrome maybe, like a Speedy Inferno. Some wheels look good on some colours and not so on others. Cheetahs look good on dark colours

The Azzuro is a great looking wheel, but IMO wheels with lots of thin spokes look to 'light' and the AU benefits from 'heavy' looking wheels like the S2 XR wheels which you have.

I never got the whole black/dark argent or (whatever the later FPV ones are) wheel look colour thing..
Iv never liked the look personally, especially on very light or very dark cars.. If memory serves that is another of those fads that ricers use/used on import POS's..

Im a fan of factory mags in general on modern cars. I dont mind both the Azzuros and the factory XR 5 spokes from the AU range, but not blacked out ones.. Reminds me of ricers..
And the Azzuros are getting a bit commonplace of late, which would make me think twice about getting a set..
I wonder how a set of Rebel XR8 wheels would look on your car?? They were on the T1 or T2 as well werent they?, and are a bit diffrent to the factory XR alloys..

Yeah the Rebel wheels would look tops! however, I have no interest in spending any more (read big) $$ on a 10 year old car. The only reason I would purchase new wheels, is if I can get them for a similar price to 4 brand new tyres on my current Ticky's - and they need 50% tread.

If I had every intention of spending a larger amount of money, this thread wouldnt exist, and I'd already be rolling on a nice set of 20's

and not a lot of love for the Black tickfords no one has every said anything bad in person!!! maybe they are scared?

If I had to choose, I prefer the original rims on your car to be silver. However I certainly don't dislike them being black.
Black wheels like that in my view look kind old school aggressive, and anything but rice as some others have said.

I wouldn't be at all unhappy with the look your car has now, but I hate the Azurros on anything.
When I bought my P250, the first thing I wanted to do was get rid of the horrors.
They're the sort of wheel which should be on a Grandpas Fairlane.

How about you do an Orange County Chopper on them.

Get some 20 GLOCK's pistols, chrome them and then weld them to your Tickfords.

Bling plus and if anyone didn't like them you could jack up a wheel, take it of and go all lethal weapon on them

People would be scared then by crikey.
