fairlane or fairmont

Hi people! just wonderin' what ur ideas on the NF/NL Fairlanes or EF/EL Fairmonts
I've currently got an EF XR8 but as i now live in the country and have a crook back im finding the XR too firm and too expensive to run
As a result of this im interested in peoples opinions on a 4L fairlane.
What is a good year/model/type.
are there any problems apart from heads to look for and how do they compare to fairmonts in terms of ride
also what is a good one worth?

Obviously the 98 is the way to go.

I would assume that the Fairlane in stock form is going to be vastly different to the Fairmont, with different options and so forth.

The only way you will really know is if you test drive both. And try to do it on the same day...

Amongst a few other cars, I've owned a ZB,ZD,ZG,ZL and a DA LTD.
My new car arriving next week is an F6!

My advice to you Bent 8 is to go the Fairlane. They are very comfortable easy on the pocket to run, deliver a smooth ride and actually handle quite well for a large car.

really im 21 and own a 4L fairlane NL, havent had too many drama's apart from head gasket/diff wine *i caused that* and just the switchboard for the p/w, i belive caused by a coke spill :S

i have done 100,000 in 22 months of ownership and has been VERY reliable.

im 25, and my NC fairlane is dumped on 17's (soon to be replaced with 19's), converted to an LTD mockup, custom made headlights and about to recieve a cubic injection thanks to a 347 stroker which should put out somewhere in the vacinity of 200 - 220 rwkw

Fairmonts are better than fairlanes as they get older,especialy ghia's.

Wow those cars look awesome and would have serious street cred.
I,d like to get a grey NL with cloth trim, sun roof, stacker and B/kit as a platform and then mod from there.
